There's a lot of oxidisation there. I would really swing off those tubes to make sure it hasn't affected the bonding.

If its all good it will look a treat with a good polish.

It's not oxidation. It looks like some weird rattle can job on the top and seat tubes. It'll be getting a full polish shortly.

So far I havent had issues on my 2 bonded frames, and I have been jumping speed humps, and curbs, and even drilled holes through them. I do have some doubt when riding down a massive descent, but for normal riding, its all good.

Oops, I posted this previously in the wrong thread. My wife brought this home from Willoughby. Not sure if it's retro but judging from all the rust I guess it's pretty old. New models are for sale on-line with grip/twist shifters; this has a thumb-shifter. Indi-Australia Rambler. I got it running and converted the basket to a rumble seat for the kids. We had a blast riding around the local park.

Classic bike being used as a ornament half dug into a wine barrel in the garden? Will try to get a better look and possibly make an offer tomorrow but from my brief time with retro/classic bikes I strongly suspect the fork has Gipemme lugs and crown.

Discovered but not yet owned. Pre/Post (?) War Bon-Ton with some rather tasty lug work. Waiting from a call from it's current owner whose wife told me she wants it to go to the tip. Australian built, yes?

Yeah there's not much 8nfo available on them, but built in Ipswich Qld from 1931 to the early 50's. The pin striping on this thing is amazing.
Unfortunately I think the owner is too attached to this one to part with it.

Picked this up from the tip today for $30:



I've been looking for a good little project for a couple of weeks. Had some false starts, but I've got a good feeling about this one. The headtube tells me it's made by Asahi Enterprises Corp, from Ishiwata EX triple butted Cr Mo tubes.

The most interesting sticker on the bike is a Bikefile registration sticker, which tells you it's an offence to remove the sticker and a number to call if you find the bike.

I have a feeling those numbers were disconnected some time in the late 80s... I'm guessing it was a Qld number, back when the local line numbers were seven digits instead of eight.

With all the gear on there it was 11.4kg. I've stripped it down as far as I can, but need a little gentle persuasion to get the stem out. Turns out I'm all out of WD40. The EX series frames are listed at 2150-2250g as far as I can tell from internet sources. Anyone know anything about Asahi Enterprises?
