After seeing it in those early 80s catalogues, I had a scrounge for pictures of my Repco Ranger 26" BMX, my first project bike.
I pulled the seat and Sugino Steel 1 piece cranks off of a Repco exercise machine.Image

Thanks for the catalogues Hotfoot, they'll keep me in reading material for a few nights.

And I've now managed to accurately date my Superlite in an 85-86. It's a light blue/dark blue colour, must have been about the last year they had 27" 1/14 rims.

Well, here's my 1991 Repco Olympic 14, running Shimano 400EX. Grabbed it off a mate, and swapped around some components to build myself a nice and comfortable all-day rider.

Frame is actually too small for me. D'oh.

Rewind to 1988 and Superbe Pro

Image

Now with a proper fork, and
Full Superbe Pro,
SR Royal stem,
Mavic Open 4 CD's,
Conti GP 3000's,
2nd gen LOOK pedals
Flight Gel (ok, maybe a bit newer than 1987).

Brings a tear to my eye Munga to see My Vertex's little brother back on the road in close to original guise.

Great work....I'll bet it just sings, the 87/88 Olympic 12 & the 88/89 Eurosport Tria are lots of fun but that tight 531 Geometry is just so snappy to ride...LOVE IT!

Where did the Full Superbe Pro Group set come from? I've got the original Sprint 9000 on my 87/88 and its every bit as good as Shimano 600 note that it changes earlier than Shimano. Superbe Pro appears to be DURACE Equivalent whats the shift quality like?

Mavic Open 4 CD's? NOS?...I'm running the UKAI's

I'm running Conti GP4000 700 x 25C Reflective Tyres for the extra visibility & comfort at present, what did you decide on?

Ahhhh now about that seat......maybe put the AriAKE Aero Jaguar II 7378 Japan "87" "6" + "Medalist" across the rear of the saddle in black lettering seat back on"

Rob

The superbe pro was on a 1989 raleigh i picked up - sadly the 10sp campag-equipped raleigh is no longer with us
even with the crummy shimano cluster (soon to be remedied), it shifts very nicely thanks - friction only, so hard not to.
not nos rims, but very lightly used. maybe 100km on them.
i bought a LOOK wheelbag from an op shop for $10, and when i got it to the car i opened it and found a brand new pair of GP3000's in it.
amber walls, kevlar beads, grey tread.

cheers, scott. i think it's more comfortable, and the reynolds 653 fork makes it feel more agile. it kinda feels lighter, but i don't think it'd be that much lighter. i'm putting it down to the old fork being a bit lazier.
