Hey Koen, like what you're doing there. Can we see some closer images of your paint hilighting and and what you did with your brake levers?

Yeah, nice rainy day in Brisbane so I'll clean the camera lense and get something up soon when I am finished eating pies :)

Some close ups of the jazzing up. Its not that good close up !!
Image

I searched everywhere looking for the etch primer Iknew I had but eventually just sanded and cleaned the rusty chrome forks. It may scratch off easy.
Then next day I found the primer of course

Effect easy using a piece of A4 paper made into a stencil with a hobby knife and time in front of the TV watching Star Trek
Image

I wanted to use aero levers to hide cables for convenience despite it being like a 70's bike.
I hand drilled 2mm holes and chamfered them slightly with a bigger drill. It was just a spur of the moment decision to paint the plastic widget on this type of shimano lever. They clip off easily and I had a spray can with some tan paint lying around. I have ordered some gum coloured hoods I think should fit okay
Image

It might be a few weeks before much else happens on ths bike. Still not decided on gears. I may use some first generation 600 indexing levers and mechs from 80's, because I have them

Nice bike
Seems quite like the early Aussie made Peugeot ten speeds with a later paint scheme that I haven't seen. But I am no expert.
I had also once picked up an 80's Pug from the tip that came in with an immigrant so it was a model that wasn't sold here. It had french made stickers on it.
Should make a good ride.

One part of the weird Pug mystery is solved. The bike is French-made. The flat bar handlebars are a cut-and-shut job complete with with dodgy welding made from steel drop bars. Out they go...

The brakes levers are Weinmann with the suicide levers cut off to suit the home-made handlebar. The front brake lever has a grub screw securing the cable that's corroded itself into place and is resisting all attempts to remove it, so looks like new brake levers as well.

PX10 imposter coming together nicely. I made the wheels ages ago and had on another bike that has lighter wheels now. For a froggy accent I am using Maillard skewers. :)
I found I had Triomphe front and rear mechs in the cupboard so that will do for the gears. Only 10 years off period! (Pity I made the gear levers into fridge magnets and gave them away.) The brake hoods almost fit the shimano levers. Fine for a hack bike.
Decals from cyclomondo are lovely as usual.
Now just waiting for cloth bar tape and the Stronglight cranks to arrive in the xmas post.

Yep, I think the Peugeot scooter was one of the prettiest ever made. The mechanicals on this one are only slightly less rusty than the rest of it. I have had to learn to communicate in French to slowly gather parts for it! Peugeot made several versions of this scooter in the mid 1950's

PX10 pretender all finished. I think it will be my new favourite bike. I want to go for a first ride but its raining and I don't want it to get dirty yet!
Image

I love the cranks. They are very lightly worn for being pretty old. I had pair of these on my first track bike. Found I still have the removal tool!
Image

A mixture of parts. Just for the excercise I mucked around with spacers in the cassette to get the 6sp shimano index levers to work the Triomphe rear mech okay on index. Some gaps I used 2x10sp spacers.
