Heres my Peugeot Izoard with all original parts except for the front wheel(Aussie Velocity half-deep V?) Replaced the old tubes and tyres(which surprising still held air) with Zaffiro tyres, and the hoods to black as the white ones were sticky. The underside of the top tube was crazy rusty, and Ive removed and repainted the underside. You guys prob wouldnt be able to tell if I hadnt said anything.

Probably tmw, I will get another Peugeot, the Tourmalet in gun metal with the 300EX groupset.

Hmm, got offered $300 for this Peugeot. Thats basically $250 that I get for free since it cost me $50. I really do like the ride, but should I sell it? That $300 will go to fund for a lugged CF bike. And left over cash could be for another Peugeot which Ill eventually find. What do you guys reckon?

If you're interested in the money, chuck it on treeBay. If you're interested in the bike, keep it and ride it. Unless of course the money is more important.

My fiancé had a Tourmalet with that exact finish, a nice looking bike if a little heavy. I replaced rhe original steel bars with aluminium, put a carbon fork from an old trek on it which made a big difference. The original cranks had a steel inner ring which weighed a bit too. Made it a really nice bike.

Thanks Lunar, agree that the bike is heavy. I was hoping to keep it near-original but won't really ride it unless it's lighter (will keep parts anyway just in case). Anyone got recommendations or cheap components to suit?

Does it make me old that a bike I purchased brand new (in '89, incidentally, the bike in the ad is not an '87 model despite the listing) is now considered "vintage"?

That dude who offered for the Izoard flaked. Doesnt matter, Im happy that I dont have to sell it.

Managed to find some RX100 STIs for the Izoard. Now its running a full RX100 groupset.

I will be selling an early 90's Tourmalet soon, in fair condition (a bit of surface rust) with mavic rims laced to sora 9spd hubs and 400ex 7spd group with DT shifters (sorry the original 7spd sti's were stuffed) and tektro dual pivot brakes. It's a friends bike I built up for her to use while she was in Australia and she's asked me to sell it now shes gone back to Germany. I'll give it a clean and post some pics up soon in case anyone's interested.

The Hurricane will need some TLC to get it running, I bought it as a bare frame on gumtree for $25 a few months back. The dropouts are out of whack and there is a fair bit of rust under the top tube where it's rubbed against something in the weather for years.

The Trail I bought for $15 (I love gumtree) as a whole bike with rusty french bits everywhere.

Slightly lighter now, and a lot more aggressive. Still a pleasure to ride, though as you can imagine a more sensitive steer
