G'day All,

I have been lurking and learning for a while now so I thought I would contribute some pics to the forum. I picked up the bike on ebay and it had a 3 speed SA rear hub, no guards and a fair bit of surface rust and shot rims. I wanted just a simple coaster hub / back pedal brake so I was lucky enough to get NOS 26 inch steel rims (still wrapped in the factory brown paper) and a recon rear hub. I also got an old 26 inch Speedwell ladies step through which I was able to rob the guards off. Anyway after some scrounging, a few bargins on ebay here it is. It rides like a bike built in 1973 but hey I wasn't after a state of the art bike, I just wanted a bike that took me back to my childhood.

hey ken that is a great looking bike restoration! Question: how did you do the decals? that is the only thing stopping me from stripping and redoing my special sports.

Nice work. Its a good feeling hey, you ought to be proud. I had an old mens malvern star that I converted to a cruiser, same color as yours. You couldnt wipe the smile off my face whilst riding it, must of looked like the biggest twat but I didnt care

thanks scratchman, i would if it was like the ones i'm after for my speedwell special sports but it ain't, so my search continues.

Thanks for the kind words all. Yep I love it, simple design and only the bare minimum of moving parts. I'm in the process of finishing a bookend Speedwell Ladies Step Through of the same age for my partners so I'll whack some pics up of that as soon as it's finished.
