The good news is that it's low season, so prices are at their lowest.... a studio apartment is $105 pn for 2 nights or $95 pn for 3 nights.
Depends what sort of thing you are after; there are also backpackers' not far away.
I'll check with a mate who has just taken over management of a caravan park & see what he can do 8)
A caravan in a caravan park sounds great! Otherwise a share in a holiday house would be awesome! wouldn't mind putting some $$$ towards a bond provided I get it back! :D Otherwise I'd be stuck in Brisbane and would need to ride home....come to think of it, I wouldn't mind doing that...how long you reckon it would take to ride Brisbane to Sydney?.....hmmmm.....maybe next time round

Anyone interested in driving from Melbourne? Flying does not appeal.
Can I have some of these?

At the moment my line up for the show is a his and hers pair of 1950s Healings, late 80s Tarini, early 80s Fellini, 91 Peugeot Iseran (which my brother will be riding in a retro jersey as Phil Anderson), a Mercier which i will be riding as Raymond Poulidor (although i look nothing like him :) ), early 80s Lawrencia and my old Tom Wallace. Altogether i have 5 geared bikes which anyone is welcome to borrow for the ride if they can't get their hands on something.

Still keen on going to the show and shine (and maybe riding the short course) in tweed but i can't find any, does anyone have/know where i can get tweed plus fours, waistcoat and flat cap? I'm also looking for something similar for my better half (who i have somehow conned into agreeing to dress up for the occasion) but that shouldn't be so difficult, just a matter of finding the right kind of dress and perhaps a vest/waistcoat to suit.

I just got a pair of wool trousers from the local OP shop, I am going to see if I can make some 3/4 riding knicks for when I ride my old bikes to the coffee shop. I also got a pair of braces at the same place.

Went to four op shops today and came up with zip. It's driving me nuts trying to find stuff but making me all the more determined.

Looks like the wife and I will be coming up from Newcastle in the campervan for the Saturday ride and the afternoon shenanigans. Now, campervan means only two bikes, so what period are we aiming at here and what are the hills like on the 40k ride ? I.E do I need to bring a touring bikes with a triple or will a 42/26 get a fairly fit 50 year olds around the course?
Cheers
Richard

For those of us not staying that close to the festivities...can we grab a shower after the Sat ride at the marina?

I don't know where the 40k mini eroica course is headed but the full course has some very steep (though mercifully short) climbs, i only just managed to ride them all with a 42-28. A triple would be good. That said, there's no shame in walking, after all that's what they did in the 'good' old days so if anything walking is more period correct :) .

As for the period, i'll have bikes from 1954 to 1993, the only thing they have in common is steel frames and downtube shifters, that's pretty much the only criteria for entry. Just bring something you like i say, the Univega i rode last year was pretty daggy but i had fun riding it.

The 40km Mini-Eroica is no walk in the park either. It's out to Cooroy & back, using that part of the full Eroica course.
There's a steep pinch on the return leg; Cotterpin & I walked the single speeds up it a few weeks back.

Hhmmm.... a tweed run on the Saturday eh?
Might have to break out the 'ol 'Union Star' with the Sturmey Archer 3 speed & I think I've got a tweed jacket somewhere.

My original idea was just that rocking up to the show with his and hers 50s bikes with matching his and hers 50s people would be a good laugh, but with the mini eroica being 40k i might be able to do it in the tweed on my 1954 Healing if it isn't too hot. I'd definitely be doing some walking though, it only has a single speed coaster hub.

Due to a conflicting engagement this "50's" person won't be around for this years event. Bugger

Lots of verbals......like 5 riders coming from Gympie, with 10 bikes for the Show & Shine, but not many actual registrations on the website as yet.
Maybe 15-20.

A few of us are going to ride the course in a couple of weeks, as a sighter, if anyone is interested :D

And a masseur has put his hand up to free-up the seized muscles after the Noosa Eroica: $1 per minute.
Will be set up outside the River Deck Restaurant at Noosa Marina.....

I would almost guarantee we will see at least that many, there were 18 riders last year and this year is looking to be several orders of magnitude larger.
I haven't actually registered yet because i didn't know how many bikes i was going to be able to actually finish, i'll be registering this week.
