i've just booked into noosa backslappers resort, which is quite cheap (like me), and close to the marina.
$65 for two single beds in a private room with a shared bathroom. if it's ghetto, i'm crashing on someone's floor.
Edit: my apologies to anyone who lives in a ghetto.

After some scrambling it appears that they will let us through if we get there early enough (albeit cautious approval, as they have had past run-ins with the shop ride bunches).
Luckily we are on the same page regards vintage steel etc
Probably will need to kick off the Sunday ride 15mins or so earlier, around 6.45.....

Meets all the criteria (being built in 1985, no indexing, Columbus/Reynolds) but everyone else seems to be bringing sports/racing bikes?
<edit> Also, is there any dirt on the short ride? Not that it fazes me but if I decide to bring something else I'll not pick the 20c tyred Flying Gate
Cheers
Richard

do you know how much retro campy record brake calipers are? They won't go anywhere below $100. i picked up the dual pivot ones for safety and coz it was quite a bit cheaper.munga wrote:dual pivot calipers on a retro bike? come off the grass, mate!

As for the weather, there are a few models predicting clear or mostly clear weather, my favourite (especially because it's forecasting clear weather and no rain at the moment ) http://www.yr.no/place/Australia/Queens ... /long.html

italians..servicimo wrote:Just hoping the weather clears up ....even a little! Just had the maiden voyage on the Bianchi this morning (in the rain) Smooth as silk! Just in case anyone wants to know- 7 speed front rings with a nine speed fd and an 8 speed rd with a 10 speed chain and 8 speed shifters with a 9 speed cassette with one gear missing (used for a ss project) with 8 speed spacers works just fine.

Did the same myself. Got some Rubino 28mm tyres coming to slap on the Ricardo. The current rear was last years front and has to many cuts in it for my liking. Especially when there is some gravel on the road.munga wrote:on another note, i just ordered some 25c randonneurs. hopefully they will arrive before the end of the week. if not, tough bikkies.

I'm considering swapping a set of 25c tyres onto the Hendren after having 3 flats in the last 2 rides out that way (not all on the 'strade bianche').

I've still got 2 bikes to finish off for the show, but not too much work to be done now.
