Carbolite (thought that might be a fancy CroMo mix but is apparently Peugo speak for HiTen !!)
Either way ... with a scrub and set of new whitewalls, inner cables turns into a nice cruiser... and very very light for HiTen

Re: You beauty - let everyone see what you've got!
Mixte looks the goods, except for that rear rack. Do the right thing and get her a nice wicker basket for the front.
Re: You beauty - let everyone see what you've got!i just keep looking at the laces. tell her some gruesome stories of broken feet caused by laces stuck in chainrings.
the bike definitely looks cool tho, and your daughter looks cool riding it. internet experts: ruining bikes since '10 | http://www.redbubble.com/people/munga

Good spot cray.... hadnt even noticed. Rack now gooone. But im not sure about the white basket. She isnt really a girly girl.... but will explore some form of carry device up front with her.
Wow... hadnt even spotted that, but your right. She is very attached to her Converse hi-tops, so might have to look at some form of spats for those shoes chop wood

You wear high top Cons? If she don't believe you monkey, I could send her some pics of my scars... Shaun ...whatever the road rules, self-preservation is the absolute priority for a cyclist when mixing it with motorised traffic.

Re: You beauty - let everyone see what you've got!971 3 speed French made Peugeot bicycle
?1971 French made Pug Size - 50cm from bottom bracket to top of seat tube 24 inch wheels This bike has just undergone a preservation / gentle restoration process; The frame was preserved to keep the rustic charm; any light spots were sanded back, clear coated and polished. all chrome and alloy received the same treatment. Bike is all original with exception of the above bits to make it a safe ride. Rear derailleur is a 3 speed simplex http://s1289.beta.photobucket.com/user/ ... eot%201971
Re: You beauty - let everyone see what you've got!nice one jks.. beautiful original condition

I used all my super human resolve not to do a full resto on it. an amazing ride in my eyes.. not too many kids bikes around in this condition from what I have seen.
Re: You beauty - let everyone see what you've got!And whilst we are handing out props to peeps-
I dig seeing a young one on a classic ride. You did a great job!
Re: You beauty - let everyone see what you've got!Just finished doing up a Repco Traveller for a bloke at work, very happy with how it turned out.

Re: You beauty - let everyone see what you've got!Careening further OT in my finest traditions - I actually deliberately shorten my laces for this reason. Work out how much shorter you can get away with at each end, unthread 'em, cut them in half at the middle, cut each length of the inner end of the laces and tie together in your meanest, tightest, unforgiving granny knot and rethread! et voila.... chainring avoiding laces. Re: You beauty - let everyone see what you've got!Touch wood, never had such bad luck... but I think it was the severed fingers pictured on Sheldon's fixed gear pages, and a lightly mashed fingernail of my own from one my early FG experiments that got me paranoid about anything getting caught in drivetrain - especially a FG drivetrain.

Re: You beauty - let everyone see what you've got!
This is way all my fixed geared bikes stay on the floor in my garage. I am paranoid that one of my kids is going to spin the cranks to watch the wheel spin and get their fingers caught up. A derailleur drive train is fine. No tension or freewheel effect. Makes me shudder just thinking about it. ![]()
Re: You beauty - let everyone see what you've got!awesome bike and scene and subject

Re: You beauty - let everyone see what you've got!Nice job, and congrats on getting your kid out on a classy retro bike. Does she handle the friction stem shifters ok? I had to swap them on my daughters shogun mixte to indexed grip shifts to make it easier for her. Looks like your daughter wi'll be too big for the bike soon, so any plans for her next mixte?

Re: You beauty - let everyone see what you've got!
Cheers. She had a bit of a whinge about the shifters, but we tend to only ride this one on the flat. leisurely rides, so she is fine with it (now). She has other bikes for serious distance / hilly rides. She is only 5'5" at 15 so not going to grow all that much taller apparently (so says all the kids height calculators). Seat post has plenty of extra to come out, and might go to bars with less pullback if the cockpit becomes cramped. She said that all she wants as her n+1 is a 'green' bike, so looking for a clunker that i can paint 'green' with all basic parts. chop wood
