Beautiful frame, wheels, group set and seat. I don't like modern stems and forks. But please don't take that as a criticism of your bike . That Olmo frame is superb!

Great looking bike, well done.

I just tried going all modern with 8sp DT campy index shifters  . Have got them working well with a 9sp chain etc........but i think i will go back to the old friction shifters which work every time

That's cool, everyone is entitled to their opinions... ;)

Thanks, I have several Ti road bikes but the position I have on the Olmo feels great atm...

Lovely build. Those Archetypes look good, but I reckon you should've gone retro on the whole lot.

All hard anodized rims look good until you ride them in the rain.

The rule applies to the rider, not the bike. When you remember rule #4 it's all about the bike and rule #11 the bike comes first, it is quite acceptable for a bike to be treated like a princess, provided the rider has another bike that enables him or her to comply with rule #9.

I've been restoring this for my 8yo daughter. Not quite finished, but will be putting it away for a couple of months now as its still just a little too big - hopefully we'll be good to go around springtime. The frame was a Speedwell 24 inch frame, had it blasted, then we did a rattle can spray job, which came out quite well with coverage, but the gloss isn't that great. I had a set of Colnago stickers lying around so thought why not :)

I had picked up a set of 24" wheels with Campagnolo Gran Sport hubs from Bigfriendlyvegan and was looking forward to using them - but the brake reach on it was going to be massive, something like 70-75mm. So I went and had another look at what I had. The groupset is Shimano 600, but the cranks are 165mm plain alloy, but with a 110 bcd, so that I could put on 34 46 chainrings (thanks LG). The wheels are 650c, with 8spd DA hubs and Velocity Rims - which were hand as that allowed me to use the 600 calipers.

The only problems/things to finish are:
- a LHS Shimano 600 shifter (the spring in the one that I have &$%# itself so I have a 105 on a the moment)
- some fancy purpleish bar tape (request of the owner :) )
- new brake hoods as the white ones are gummy
- a 4.5mm spacer so that I can get a 7 speed cassette on the rear wheel
- recover a small ladies saddle in some black leather
- also have to sort out the wheel spacing, as when I tighten the QR, the cassette lock ring is binding on the nut that attaches the dropout.

Anyway, i'm pretty happy and my daughter even more so and can't wait for a ride :D .

Lol, I did one similar for my daughter as well, same colour , same size, it was an apollo IV frame, shimano 600, pics on here somewhere.
Then she lost a bit of interest.... so I stripped it !
When in doubt......mumble.

Bought this frame a few years ago with Hillman transfers on it.Confirmed that it wasn't a Hillman and built it up with shimano 105 groupset purchased of a forum member.

This bike turned out so well I thought I should put up a few pictures. After being in Italy briefly last year I just wanted a Piazza bike to ride down town. Unfortunately I live in the center of a small town so I don't have to ride far and there is no nice big piazza to do slow laps of waiting for my old mates to turn up and have a coffee with. I think it was a midrange Malvern Star frame of about mid eighties..it had been painted a few times before I got it. Found some nice technotrat forks at the local tip and picked up La Gazetta while in Italy. A cut and weld on some other bars to make a condorino style then search far and wide for brake levers and make a custom thumbie out of various suntour parts. It was a bit more muckin' around than I had bargained for but I am getting good at that.
I would still like to get some mudguards.
