Hi Guys

Having my Clamont stolen the day after christmas, and then recovered 6 days later on return from holidays, has prompted me to take some pics and post.
Have built it up over the past year, and although its a bit of this and that, its a dream to ride.

My new project is the Vitus. Picked it up of ebay after some spirited bidding. Got it up a running for a ride before i stipped it and was pleasantly surprised how well it rode.

Cheers

Hi seddo. The Clamont came with no decals, but based on research and confirmation from local frame builder its SLX, has the 5 spiral ribs etc. I did weight the frame at the time but can not remember the weights, but its weighs 9.9kg as it stands. Other specs are basically 80's record group apart from the Chorus crank set and seat post (always loved the look of them). The easton wheel set were an easier option after i cracked a MA40 rim and could not find a replacement.
BTW the Clamont decal set came from cyclomondo who i can highly recommend for Clamont decals. He didn't have them on his web site, but he does do them
Cheers

My friend asked me to built him a 80's steel frame singlespeed bike. So I took his money and gave him this. He liked it and I had a good time building it.
I hope you guys like it too!

Looks nice but I wouldn;t like to ride it far. You'd be slipping off that seat and fighting yourself all day. :)

Duly noted Koen. He didn't complain but than again it had been a long time since he had a bike and I just overlooked it. Will make sure to set it up correctly when I see him.

We both decided to go for a clean but safe look, hence the coaster brake + the front brake as an emergency brake. I positioned it in such a way that he can use the front brake with his right hand while still have enough space to have both hands on top of the handlebar.

Had this GT Outpost kicking around for ages and just bought a few little bits and got it all together. Someone had cut off the rear canti cable stop so I put on a first gen shimano xt v brake. Most components are much better than the original, some are still the original. Its hard to find low end old stuff and I have plenty of old thumbies and cranks. It was a sentimental purchase for about $30. The bike currently weighs 13.6kg ! And that is with better wheels and cranks. Amazing how overbuilt alot of early mtbs were.

My GT Zaskar that I bought as a frameset in '96 or so and built up with parts off my previous GT Richter. It has been sitting unloved in a storage shed for the last couple of years and barely ridden in the 5 previous years. I thought taking some pictures might make me get keen to give it some tlc. I have had some great rides with this one.

They are proprietary, so it depends on how many pedal setups/shoes you have. I run Shimano on most of my bikes (which is why I put Duracci on the Cinelli) but kept the Pinarello all-Campy for aethestics

Does it allow you to release by sliding your heal in? (pulling heal towards the frame of the bike) or you have to slide out? I can't explain myself properly.

Nasty Graecross Courier with an exage 6 speed group I cobbled up for a friend. Its not truly awful but kinda clunky and heavy. The frame had no derailleur mount so a $4 sun race claw from moruya cycles sorted that out. After a bit of fiddling with the high/low stops it shifts lovely.

Excuse the renovation detritus, it seems to occupy most of my spare time I used to have for bike stuff.
