You could start with steel wool sprayed with WD40 (thanks Scott) - less abrasive than a wire brush.trailgumby wrote: It's the frame that concerns me most - hopefully only surface rust. Wire brush?

It's really vivid in daylight...what can't be seen in photos is the indigo hue that the pearl gives off from some angles

Thanks harcsharcs wrote:Love the gold plating, great restoration, look forward to your next bike. It amazes me how many different bike manufacturers there are.
The frame is actually cromovelato which seams to be popular amongst some Italian frame builders in the 70's & early 80's.
Moser, Faggin & Wilier are other frame builders that I know of that used this finish.
Its actually a fully chromed frame with a coloured clear coat over the top, in this case red & gold/yellow.
Unfortunately this top semi clear coat is often quite fragile and I haven't found a reliable method of restoration as yet

I dawned on me the other day that the old generator lights sitting around the shed gathering dust have heaps of space in them.. so an hour later, a couple of cheap modern led bike lights a tube of epoxy and a soldering iron and it's good to go.
just need to find a couple of little chrome push buttons to fit to the light bodies to finish the job.
