Black cable outers and white bar tape to go on. I might have to do the old bar tape around the brake lever bodies, too.

I take the criticism in the manner that it is helpful and good natured. The saddle is horizontal as measured by a spirit level, the picture has distorted it's appearance. That's one of my bug bears, seeing people's bike seats leaning forward. I originally put on a 110 stem but my son said it looked to big, so I replaced it with an 80, which turned out to be too small. That will be sorted out later. The shifters are on the high side, again will be adjusted soon. You failed to notice the bar tape is joined with tape in the middle of the right hand side of the bar, this is how it was sold to me . I'm waiting for a replacement from wiggle, that's why I haven't been too fussed about the finer details. Please remember it was ridden for the first time yesterday! Now as far as the wheels and to much red, I have 29 bikes, 28 are more or less period correct, this is as I noted in the posting a more modern build and I'm very happy with the look. I'm quite happy to hear differing opinions, that's part of posting, it would be a boring world if every one had the same opinion.

Leave the wheel decals and the red. That bike looks great being 'busy'. I've also done period correct bikes, bits and pieces bikes and themed bikes. Nothing wrong with variety and individuality. I agree that suggestions and comments are good natured and well meaning.

Lots of good bicycles on the previous page but that one really looks as if it means business.
What a glorious combination, Ultegra drive, Steel frame, Campag seatpost and Brooks saddle.
Wheels look good too.

Two bikes that are pretty much the same. I am going to keep the Madison because it was made here in Brisbane. Both have Adamas AX gruppos which are actually pretty light. The frames are HiTen and not light. I found the Madison at the tip about ten tyears ago and it was too interesting to rust away.
The Maruishi Premier has original Maruishi tyres so must have come out a of a box somewhere I think. The parts are 1982 manufacture. The Madison parts 1981 manufacture and there are some minor changes on the rear mech.

Possible, I found a Huffy Aerowind years ago which had more radically shaped tubing and was still hi ten.

It's just the forged ends. Sloping fork crown and tapered seatstay ends. Maybe it's Tange mangalloy?

Could be mangalloy if thats heavier than hi ten

The Premier is Hi Ten and its got nicer forks and aero seat stays too. Its also nearly half a kilo lighter than the Madison but the Madsion is bigger.

Ooh, nice and shiny. How'd you go about removing the anodising and polishing it up(as in hand or machine polished)? The only thing keeping me from polishing up my 7400 cranks are how long they will stay shiny and the susceptibility of them getting scratched from shoes.

i used polishing wheels on a little bench grinder. the da 7400 anodizing was very easy to remove. ive polished a few pair of shimano 6207 cranks and they took a lot longer.
if they lose their shine i just rub a bit of autosol on them, no worries.
i think anodizing will scratch a lot easier/noticably than if they were polished?

Is the Dura-Ace logo engraved into the surface? If not, how do you work around them? My cheapie Sugino's only have stickers/paint(?) which are already half gone and won't last a decent clean.

sublime work. i know there is a rattle can clear coat specially made for polished alloy, seen it in Bunnings last week.

Boeshield T-9 spray works well to preserve a polished finish, just apply a liberal coat and let it penetrate.
