+1 to this. Supercheap have 2 tubes of AutoSol for $10 this week, normally $8.90ea. I managed to sneak through 1x Regular AutoSol and 1x of the Aluminium Polish for $10 total because the cashier wasn't paying attention.
Back to your regular scheduled gawking.

Nice.
I love the old Superbe Pro. That and Cyclone are easily the best shifting vintage parts I have used.

Agreed the suntour superbe pro was the best of it's day. I bought the cranks at a swap meet, just fell in love with them as soon as I picked them up. The fd and rd are nos bought from us. The last picture shows the rd looks as if it's blistering, but it was drizzling rain when I took the pictures. I'm going to add some cardboard flippers to the rear wheel because the bike is so quiet and smooth.lol

I was given this bike by a generous person over the weekend, has been built up as a single speed but was a derailler frame. No identifying marks on it apart from the cable guide on the bottom which says Modele Vitus Depose. Also has possibly original Universal brakes, so I'm thinking it's French? Non-original 27.0 seatpost installed which seems to fit well. Seems very light.
Now the unfortunate thing, and the reason I got it for free, is that it looks to have been in a head-on in a past life. Has the tell tale bulge in the downtube and slight stretch marks in the paint. It's only a small bulge, but I'm not that experienced with these things, is it unsafe/rideable/repairable/junk?

ok, this isn't a new bike for me, but I rediscovered it today so I thought I'd post it again
For some reason, I've often found a reason not to ride this one, "steep hills, take the bike with lower gearing", "hot day, you'll need to carry a second bottle", "wet roads, don't take the good bike"
but today I decided to take it along on the group ride and it was superb! comfortable, responsive and quick. I'd been thinking of selling this frame but will be hanging onto it now
Now I need to set it up properly, some 42cm bars and a nice concor saddle should do it

Yes - she is a beauty.
I guess you could always try to find a 38/48tooth chainring setup to improve performance in the hills, but that might need you to get a shimano or suntour crankset.

New to BNA, although I have been reading the threads for years. A friend encouraged me to post a pic of one of my old 80s road bikes - a Gemini World Randonneur. Ishiwata 4130 frame, running SR and Shimano components. Araya Red label wheels.

Hi-speed
is the brand name. However, what the top most label says is something of a mystery. It could be 'Pilgrim' given this

Yes they are 600 Arabesque, I am hope fully going to pick up a Dura Ace 7400 groupset this weekend
This bike was originally fitted with DA 7400 so it should look much nicer than it does now with such a mish-mash of parts
...and yes Adam, it is Benotto ribbon tape too. I grabbed four rolls from my LBS (a couple of shades of blue and some pearl whites)
