I did some work for him but I should sell it and give him the money.
Where should I sell it?
What size is it?

Looks like a 54cm to me. Whatever it is it's way to small for you Smugy :)

Still not 100% finished, but close enough for a pic :) .
My 1965 Brisbane made Local Cycle Co. roadster, the only original parts are the frameset, headset, brake callipers and cable guides. It originally had a Sturmey Archer 3 speed, I've used a Shimano Nexus but it doesn't work perfectly with the Sturmey-Archer trigger shifter so I will need to do some more research there.

My ideal measurements are somewhere around 56cm for the top tube and 58 for the seat tube, so with a 56 top tube, this style of frame needs LOTS of seatpost.

Came in a lot lighter than expected, but still 12.6kgs with an empty bidon :) . Climbs quite well given the weight though, within the restrictions of a 46" 1st gear (which gives an 86" 3rd) and her reluctance to be ridden out of the saddle. Has a very colourful parts spec, from the FSA Gimondi cranks with an old 105 chainring, to the Jacobs Creek chardonnay pinot noir bar plugs  .

What to do on a lazy summer arvo? Make a felt lined box for shiny bits ! Its getting bad when I want something but don't even want it on a bike. :)
A well used partially complete 50th gruppo I put in a box a few years back

Image

and a hardly used 600 8sp gruppo I put in a box today
I just got it off a bike I'm "turning into" a px10 with older parts

Or you could remove the skewer and put it in the other way :)

Nice handy work. I suppose sometimes retro biking isn't always about something you can ride.

Both very nice gruppo's and worthwhile as stand-alone collections.

I seem to be in a "work on bike stuff and post on forum" phase.
So today I finished off an old 1990 Mongoose I got off a neighbour who is inclined to scavenge the kerbside.
It was quite rusty but nearly complete so I thought it would be a good project. The paintwork is pretty bad and I did touch up some spots but I especially liked the straight forks. It had plastic brake levers with mountainLX thumbies attached and both were broken so my major expense was NOS deore levers and mountainLX thumbies from my friends at Loosescrews. The rest of the LX drivetrain was in pretty good nick. I stuck a cheap 7 speed chain on it and went for a ride this arvo. On the third section of 20% (24x28) climb the chain snapped (ouch to my knee on the handlebar)...I seemed to remember then that cheap chains used to break back in the day too.

Image

I bought the bare LX thumbies and fitted them onto some old 400 exage 6speed shifter clamps.

Must just be a show pony, it's on the road, but just well insulated from contacting the road.

Hah! Didn't even realised what I had typed about "back on the road", good pickup! Unfortunately I haven't learnt the art of carrying three kids on the back so I have to drop them off to diving practice first at the aquatic centre and while they're doing that I can punch out some kilometres around Sydney Olympic Park.

Does anyone else collect particular bike parts? I've seen some very nice head badge collections and I remember a guy who was after those little repair kit tins. I have thought of collecting rear derailleurs. Show us your collection.

I wish I had the discipline to simply collect groupsets or nice individual parts for display but, the problem is, as soon as I get a nice part, I have to find a bike or frame to put said parts on
Likewise, if I get a frame, I immediately have to build it into a complete bike, even if it's a junk frame...I can't resist

Jewellery is meant to be worn after all

Like the mint Mavic SSC groupset I recently acquired...I had intended to display it in a glass cabinet in my garage but, I just couldn't resist fitting it to one of my bikes (displacing a Dura Ace 7400 groupset in the process)

I spotted you today. We passed each other by the Western Sydney Parklands at about 10am. Didnt pay too much attention, but I did see a purple frame that looked somewhat like a Softride.

If you passed a blue Gios, or maybe you noticed a lovely blue/white Merckx, then you did see us. I didnt notice you til it was too late, and we were both going too fast in the oppsotie directions.
