I wasn't sure where to post this but I guess it's more retro than not.

This is my Rivendell Sam Hillborne 650b utility/tourer. It's one of the early versions that were built at Waterford. It's a lovely bike to ride, handles all terrain and I hope to use it as a loaded touring bike in the years to come.

Mate that's very nice. How's it compare to the Specialized on longer rides, or is it to much of a chore to ride over longer distances?

It's a lot heavier and slower than the Roubaix or the R3, but it is very stable and comfortable and can carry a load really well. Surprisingly enough is a good climber too. I've done a couple of 100+km rides on it and while it's slower, it's a nice spot to watch the scenery from. I'm planning a couple of overnight trips on her soon.

Nice Rivendell grantw. The think I like about the Rivendell's, apart from their build quality, is the way they are thought out and built to suit their purpose.

Lots of steel bikes wrote:Does anyone else collect particular bike parts? I've seen some very nice head badge collections and I remember a guy who was after those little repair kit tins. I have thought of collecting rear derailleurs. Show us your collection.
about two years ago i bought a nos shimano 600 ex rear derailleur in the box.
had trouble stopping there and have collected the whole 6207 group, and only need a pair of 6208 indexed shifters to have the 6208 derailleur set too!

Hey all,

Thought I would share my current ride, Colnago Superissimo made from SLX with Campy chorus 8 speed group. This is my only complete bike at the moment so it gets a fair bit of use and I love every minute spent on it.

Was going to post a fancy full pic of the '93 SCA Nishiki RC4000 tonight, but it has different length valves and no front valve cap. You guys are tough. It's waiting to be picked up from Ipswich Cycles atm after a steerer tube cut and a cassette swap to the new wheelset. Edit: Nope, done

Yeah I just had to buy these super rare gum/yellow/orange 20mm's and then hope that the 2nd one wasn't stolen out of the letter box didn't I? I think we have a mail theif. Both were bought separately, but the 1st only took a week and a half to arrive. Been waiting over 2 weeks for the 2nd tyre already :(

That's ok though, Jacks from Prolite just told me to run it on the rim because it'll handle the abuse. They must carry one hell of a warranty on these puppies.

It took me a while but I got in up and running before the rains. Sorenson frame, unknown history, straight forks, columbus tubing and tips and 105 groupset perfect for wet weather commuting.

Great "retro" touch with that new saddle too. What is it?

Selle Success F1? Not new, they're an 80's thing. I've got one sitting here for my Fuji. Bit of a hatchet.

Indeed Jim! Selle Success Titanium, not too bad of a saddle. I'd rather a rolls any day though...

Looking nice. What groupset is it running? Suntour Superbe?

Nah, it's getting as much of the original gear as I can muster. I've managed to source the Suntour VX RD, Super Mighty cranks, Gran Compe brake calipers and Nitto B115 bars. I subbed in a Golden Arrow FD for now, but need to keep looking for some stuff. The main difference will be the wheels, running Ukai 27 x 1 1/8 clinchers on Snshine hubs, not the tubs to Gyromaster set it was specced with.
