Hi Guys,
This will be my first post here , this is a rejuvenated Master Sports that I've built up as single speed, partly due to the N+1 rule and partly so it will look the part in the back of my 56 Landy.
I got the frame of Evilbay for $50, the plan was to use all old parts but in the end its been a mix of old and new.

Trying to figure out if front brake cable too long, or rear brake cable too short:

This is the Abeni I was given. It has early to mid 80s Campy gear throughout except the crankset and brake levers.

Image

So I bought these on ebay to keep everything original.

Image

Then I stripped everything down. I glass blasted the frame and then etched and primed in two pack urethane.

Image

Image

During this process I stripped, cleaned and polished everything up.

Finally I top coated the frame in 1982 Vauxhall Green two pack.

Image

Image

Then I had a bit of fun and put everything together.

I have ordered the vinyl decals but they have not yet arrived.

Image

Last of all I am hunting around for some Campy wheels to match the set. At the moment it has shimaNO 105 hubs on it.

The bike rides like a dream. Yesterday I couldnt take the smile off my face.

Beautiful frame, though I reckon it would look better with a period build, like the ones in this thread.

I'd love to get a Morris Minor ute to take my his and hers pair of 50s Healings to shows :) .

I reckon rear is a little too short (maybe a little more loop near the seatpost too, cause when you turn it'll shorten/pull even more), but i am so slack in all my restos that i can't really comment about anyone who has actually done something.

Dave Moulton has some thoughts on it..

Looking good thought Jim

Thank you. I couldn't be happier in how it all came together.

The images don't show it but the green shows off and highlights the chrome work really well.

What I love most is how smooth everything runs, it's like a slinky, stealthy cat. It just purrs.

I hope to have the decals to put on this weekend. Then Saturday week I think I will have to take it for a spin to the Sydney Classic Bike Show.

It needs a British Racing Green Jag or MGB to go with it.

Very nice classic looking ride.

Maybe not quite the same prestige though :)

Thanks, I originally set out for it to be a period build, but I got weary of chasing up old bits, or being outbid for them for the same price as new parts. I had the pista bars that the frame came with on it to start with and while it looked awesome....I found them terribly narrow, especially when my usual ride is a 2014 trance with 730 bars

There is certainly no where to put a bike either. But if I am dreaming vintage sports cars the Jag D-type ticks all the boxes.

You could mount a really short pair of roof bars, with a single Thule bike mount, next to the driver

My mum has apparently agreed that when they sell one of our old grazing blocks dad can get a replica D type. Guess who's going to be the world's biggest brown noser if that happens  .

I happen to have a 1960 Austin Healey Bugeye Sprite & a 1969 MG Midget. One of the leading manufactures of go fast bits was Speedwell Engineering. I have always wanted a nice 50s or 60s Speedwell to go with them. There was absolutely no relationship but their badges were very similar

There were a few C type replicas in NSW that might now be going cheap - the RTA cottoned on to the fact that they weren't 30 years old & cancelled their historic registration. Unsurprisingly they don't meet the current ADRs required for full registration

Sorry I seem to have gotten this thread off track a little, my bad.
However the old 56 Landy is the go, load a heap of bikes in it if I want, can limit the amount of freeloaders I can take , throw a wheel on the bonnet and service it if required without shedding a tear, and get an upper body work out steering it home post ride.
