I dont know too much about retro bike parts, but is it as rare as the 'double plugga ninja foot' at the bottom right of the photo??

The frame says Protour and the head tube has the Colnago badge... The seller says there's no sticker on the frame and can't specify the make. Weird.

Urban Sydney Ninja's - who would have thought!

For those who picked out the Colnago decal and wondered "what the?", I've come across quite a few faked Colnago's. They all seem to be Japanese made frames (dating from the 80's), copy all the original decals and actual Colnago colour schemes. A few pop up on Ebay from time to time, so beware!

But they're easy to spot in the flesh - very heavy frames, often low spec. gear and the rear wheel never sits close to the seat downtube as you would expect on an actual Colnago. And no factory stampings of course! Does anyone else know anything else about these?

Perhaps we could call these fakes ... "Clon(e)ago's"?

The Cinelli badged stem could be worth more than the rest of the bike (only joking - but it is a much desired item). It does appear to have a hole drilled in the middle of the badge though and it is without its paint scheme - but never the less - it is a valuable stem probably from the 50's/60's.

Glad to read that it is a fast bike.

There used to be a heap of fake Colnago decal sets available in the 80's - I think I've still got a set somewhere. These days they are 'reproduction decal sets' and they can be relatively expensive - but they are good quality.

Absolutely, that stem, even just the badge itself would probably be worth more than the bike it self.

One reason for the hole in the badge: Occasionally you will see a centrepull brake cable passing through the stem. Owners would drill a hole in the stem to act as a cable stop for the front brake. Perhaps this is what happened to the badge, if the hole doesn't go through the stem, the badge could have come from another stem. You could get badged and un-badged stems from Cinelli. The badged stems were a little dearer to buy. Now they're worth a lot more.

The hole in the badge & stem makes it all but worthless. A cute curiosity, but one that has been vandalised.

It's undamaged or repairable components that are desirable & I can't see how the badge could be repaired.
