if i was lucky enough to have a yellow frame like that, i'd keep it simple with black tyres, white tape and saddle, maybe yellow cable outers, and silver components/wheelset.

OK, so I'm in Sydney and no where near 'Geoff' so I thought I could get a couple for things sorted,
Some different outer cable casings, final wheel decision, Hudz, etc. One thing that did come up was cleats for my 'new' Shimano 600 pedals and our resident guru of things old, Munga, mentioned that there are cleats that suit these pedals which also fit late model cycling shoes. Now, I looked at his suggested shop and failed to find them however searching the net I have found that PD-64 cleats are the 'go' however I was wondering if anyone knows of substitutes which are available?

Picked up the clamp on FD from RadioDog last night and it looks great. Thanks RD and I hope you had a better ride home, less incident packed.
Things left to get:
Seat pin - getting picked up Raturday, thanks Loch,
Quill stem - hard task getting the correct one. 80-90mm Cinelli/3ttt/600.....
Bars - sorted thanks Munga
Rims - grrrr, every time I settle on a set for a reasonable price shipping kicks me in the guts 32 hole silver Aeroheads or similar

Wiki does a better job than I at explaining Ultrasonic cleaners
I bought one on Gumtree that had been used 3-4 times. It was marketed for cleaning handguns.
Useful for cleaning chains and freewheels, it warms the part then vibrates the grime off.
I had a loan of a ultrasonic cleaner and was surprised at how much better it cleaned a chain than my best effort to date (wide mouth jar part fill with kero and the chain, let soak, then shake, decant kero, repeat with clean kero.....) was so impressed I bought one.

So the search continues to get some gear. I have just about have or ordered everything I need now with the exception of bars, Munga's mobile showroom to be investigated next week and saddle more than likely a Brooks.
Today's dilemma is shifter hoods. Although the hoods are OK I was hoping to get some new ones and boy are they hard to find for a reasonable cost. I have only found them in the states and shipping just kills .

So that brings me to my question, does anybody have a secret stash of brifter hoods for Ultegra 8 speed, similar to the RX100 shaped brifters? Or know of a supplier of same?

Time for an update
Went to pickup my forks from the lbs after getting the crown race pressed and bad news, they chipped the paint. The local guy in LBS had to send it to the sister store where the damage was done. He was very apologetic and is paying for the repair. Still it's a 2 week delay. I now have everything excluding saddle, handlebars and a new BB (the one I had was worn and the boys convinced be to get a new one). So off to the LBS to size it correctly. I have settled on white cable outers after trying black and grey(thanks Dan). I nearly had a set of handle bars on Raturday however the ones I was to get were too good to wrap in tape so I left them with Munga for his Kenevans. Hopeful that my man Munga will have another set this weekend for review
I finished lacing the wheels last night, yay! I should read the instructions more closely sometimes as you can save a lot of time Anyhow truing is the next step.
It is an amazing thing rebuilding a bike, as I sit here tapping away looking at the wheels, I have decided to get shiny new skewers. Bugger, more money.

Similar thing happened to me. On my second build I didn't have the right campy tool. Took the frame to the LBS to ensure it was done properly. He also didn't have the right tool. Improvised, slipped off and chipped the paint. I was stunned into silence.

Finally got the fork back on Wednesday night, yay, however work has killed any spare time at the moment but I hope to get an hour or so working on it tonight. My weekend is about the same as far as spare time goes, son's 'bucks party' golf game Raturday arvo, I now have to go to Melbourne Sunday, blahdy, blahdy, blah! I hope to have it completed next week however I'll wait and see what happens.. Till next time.
