Love the yellow and black.

What bar tape are you installing?

Black as well. Black saddle to come also. Its surprisingly non-bumblebee for a bumblebee.
Thanks, btw - looking forward to giving it a run on saturday.

If you still need a seat post bolt, head in to Gear, I was just in there today and got one for the Raleigh. They have loads.
Long day's journey into alt-bars

Hey Ben, I was about to say I've still got yours :) I'll pop it in the car for next time I see you.
I actually ordered one through the intierowebses as every store I went to didn't have them short enough - if that fails I'll talk to Eric on saturday.

I couldn't articulate why I liked the yellow and black when normally I don't, but you've nailed it there...

There's a real bronze/gold sheen to it actually, where the yellow has faded with age.

10.5kg.

Took it on an easy 13km commute this morning to rough out any issues.
I need to adjust low gear derailluer setting (I know, i just tried out the high chainring), and close up the front brake a touch but otherwise its really nice.

Probably should've ordered an 11-23 cassette instead of the 12-25 I did, but that's perhaps because I'm used to the resistance of the single speed. Didn't top out down Mina Parade so perhaps its okay.

Nice work diggerdan. Can we have a total bike driveside shot pleeeeez?
Riding retro steel with modern components is the absolute best funtime you can have with your clothes on IMO.

After finishing my first build... a Carbon Campy, with this inspiration, next will be a retro steel with Campy goodies for sure. Lovely bike

Hey, thanks! I really like the new drivetrain/old steel thing - feels like a new bike - actually better, since I know everything is properly tightened and adjusted ;)

Yep, the bike that you assemble yourself with care, and tune in to suit you is the sweetest ride of all. Total confidence!

I think I need to de-campy the wheels - stickers just aren't my thing. And does anyone know how to shut that ratchet up?

Also, lucky I didn't go for 28s - otherwise I'd have to deflate the tyre each time to get it past the derailleur clamp.

mate i'd say that would be a mid to late 80s viner. 70s steel wouldn't have had recessed brake holes yet.

I defer to the man in the know. I was working (in a wholly uneducated fashion, mind) off the cable stays on the bottom bracket.

Cool pics Dan, nice bike (no I'm saying zip about finger massagers on proper retro bikes), remember bro, I know where you live.

Reckon I won't be able to keep up on the on Vertex tomorrow.

Thanks for alerting me to the photo scores, in future I'll attempt to score as low as possible.
