BNE - No Frills Bike Swap 14 Oct

Postby gbannerman » Sat Sep 15, 2012 3:26 pm

I'm getting things together for a "No Frills" bike swap on Sunday 14 October. Will be 10am - noon. Coffee, BBQ, selling/buying bike stuff. Nice and simple. It's going to be on the northside of Brisbane. More details soon.

If I can get out of parenting for the day, I might just shoot up from Lennox.

This will be dangerous given you're the same size as me.

In this respect I am lucky, 60cm steel road frames are few and far between (except in my garage).

Nope, I am trying to implement an "n minus (lots and lots and lots)" policy as we speak - I have both of my dream retro rides just waiting for a few little pieces, and we're good to go. I have been collecting for 23 years, and have finally realised that I'd rather be riding the Cinelli and the Merckx than searching for all the bits, and investing the time to restore and build them all.

HOWEVER, if anyone has a PDM Concorde in a 59 or 60, let me know ....

Exclusive update for BNA members: planning to have it Jack Speare Park, Indooroopilly. $5 for a stall. Stallholders rock up at 9:30am. Public get in at 10am. It's a leafy, shaded spot that's just off the river loop. Planning a BBQ and a coffee stall. Nice and simple. More info coming soon on Biking Brisbane.

I can't abide a chicken sausage

Pork
Beef +1
Lamb +1

interfaith bbq treats. There is no such thing as a chicken sausage, only abomination in a sausage casing.

A + C please. Just like the ribs from Hurricanes at Darling Harbour (highly recommended to the NSW people or visitors to Sydney)

Ha! Remember when the first marketed line of gourmet sausages was released? They were just normal sausages with a herb or two chucked in - may or may not have contained meatstuffs, too...

If any of you South East Queenslanders like sausages drop into the butcher shop in Allora next time you're passing through. Best sausages I've ever eaten in my life and recommended to me years ago by the butcher at the Paddington Woolies???????
I've tried the pork with maple & smokey bacon and the beef with parmesan, spinach and pepper. Both bloody delicious. I'm not a big sausage eater but this lot changed my whole opinion of snags Problem is is that I've turned into a sausage snob and can't eat the supermarket ones anymore. Probably a good thing...

Spent a lot of my youth running around Jack Speare Park

Hey guys,

Though I'm relatively new to the forums, I do have quite a collection, and am more than happy to relieve some people of some old junk :P

So whats the go? Trad. Car boot type thing? Ive got a nice set of yellow velocity rims, few bits and bobs. a few 58-60cm bikes. 4 boxes of misc. bits...

Scott, I suspect you'll need a table and chair, given the picture Gavin posted of the location. I think he's started a twitfacepagebook for the event as well.

Hi Scott - there's a carpark next to the site for the swap. Plan is to get people to park and move their stuff across to to the shaded area - should avoid the swap spilling out on the road. If you've got a trestle table, that'd be ideal. Can be ghetto and just use a sheet too.

All set for tomorrow. Looking like a fine day. There won't be a coffee van - have a limited number of the best iced coffees ever. Get in early. If people want to stick around for a beer the soccer club can open the bar up. See you tomorrow!
