Loose screws closing

Postby rtnicho » Tue Oct 16, 2012 5:31 pm

Well, the end of an era. The little bike part shop that has got many of us out of a jam over the years is closing. It's like losing an old friend .... and gaining a bank balance. 20% off in-stock parts.

Best wishes to Jeff and Jean

Heard the news this morning :( Good on them for filling a niche that probably didn't yield much of a profit. I'll always remember stumbling across this site and immediately finding what I thought to be a long extinct species - Drop out adjuster screws!
The closure prompted me to stock up a few 'where the hell do I get one of those' items and Dia-Compe bits and bobs, and I even discovered a few gems despite having been through their inventory loads of times - New straddle cables and stickers for my Dia-Compe centre-pull brakes! Beauty!

There is certainly a gap in the market for home mechanic necessities in Aus, even finding spokes for less than retail-per-spoke is a pain, and without loose screws I'll have to find a new source for ball bearings. Anyone know of a similar source, or willing to go into business?...

Damn.

Mind you things like bearings can easily be had from any specialist bearing supplier. Same goes for bolts and fasteners...

Otherwise, the best local alternative to Loose Screws is http://www.minibearings.com.au/
Ours is not to reason why...merely to point and giggle
