need help identifying Malvern Star or BSA

Hi all,

I currently looking at what I think is a Malvern Star frame but it has BSA A83 stamped underneath the central (pedal) hub.

Any ideas on where it's build locale might be and how old it may be?

Those stamps are for the manufacturer of the bottom bracket. There should be a serial number stamped elsewhere on the frame, possibly near the top of the seat tube. I'm no malvern star expert, but that frame looks more like a generic 50s roadster to me.

As LG has said, BSA A83 just means it has a BSA bottom bracket shell. This is a roadster frame, not a racing frame. The serial number will be on the left side of the seat lug, or the right hand rear dropout. If it is not in either of those places, it will be stamped on the steerer tube. You will have to take out the forks to view this.
The stars in the fork crown first appeared in 1933.

Does this (BSA A83) mean it was built in the UK?

Apparently there is a number on Left hand side of seat tube - this number being '91116' Does this give an estimate of build year?

it could but I think there is a prefix missing, at 99c its a good buy if your after a Roadster to restore its not 1920's though, its much newer than that

My old 2 Star Malvern Star has a serial number of 57504 and is dated as a 1935 model. So you're looking a year or so after that I'd think.

Number 91116 would place it in 1936 or 1937.

appreciate your help... So it's a 1936 - 37 Malvern Star '2 Star'(?) Roadster built in Melbourne(?)
