So I have been chasing hoods for my Llewellyn
It has superbe pro aero levers.
I have done a bit of googling but most threads are a few years old
My question is , Does any body know what modern hoods work well with these levers.
the $9 ones from ridgeways. take your lever and hood along and compare.
I presume you mean Superb Pro with exposed cables coming out the top, and gum hoods. These levers take the same hoods as 1970's and '80's Campagnolo Record and Super Record levers. And Modolo. The lever bodies are exactly the same shape.
The cheap hoods available now that fit on standard Dia Compe, early Shimano and Weinmann type bodies do not fit properly on Superbe Pro. I used up my remaining Superbe hoods on Campagnolo levers over the last few years. They were a better quality hood than the Campagnolo version.
Modolo hoods were the best qulaity, and I preferred them on all three brands, but I have not seen any of these available for a while now.
Repro Campagnolo gum hoods are available, and probably the easiest thing to get, that will fit properly.
mms sent re: superbe pro aero hoods
The last NOS gummy colored pair I saw on ebay "the only one's I've ever seen" were $100 not including postage and that was alot by it's self. I opted for brown colored DiCompe hoods, from memory around $15.

Just did a quick search, this is all I got http://www.ebay.com/itm/NOS-SUNTOUR-SUPERBE-PRO-BRAKE-LEVERS-WITH-GUM-HOODS-/310485648932?pt=Cycling_Parts_Accessories&hash=item484a630624
Or buy complete daiCompe levers and take the hoods off or use them complete http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/sis.html?_kw=Diacompe+Aero+Brake+Levers+with+Black+Hood&_id=190723688258
I'm running aero superbe pro levers with dia-compe hoods. The hoods came off a set of dia-compe levers and are slightly loose, but a reasonable fit. Not sure if new hoods will be a tighter fit. Perfectly functional if you want to run with this cheap option.
LG = Low Gear
I'm on the lookout for some non-aero hoods, so thanks for that!!
+ 1 to Munga.
Great recommendation, they also fit "Suntour Sprint 9000 Aero Brake Levers" very well...very little difference to the originals, a good firm/snug fitting.
Ridgeway Cycles provided great service...hats off to Graham & Simon...rang up they sent me photos, rang back & ordered over the phone, they posted them to NSW.

1546 Hoods for Aero type lever Black
Gonna necro this old thread to keep info all in one place. Looking for replacement Suntour Sprint 9000 hoods, can anyone confirm if they're the same as Superbe Pro?
Velobase tells me: "Suntour introduced the Sprint gruppo, price between Superbe Pro and Cyclone, to compete with Shimano 600 Ultegra. Suntour Sprint was splendid value, everything looked expensive and the finish was superbe."
So I'm guessing they're fairly similar, no? The top of the lever has some slots/indents and the hoods have matching ridges to fit.
On my cheapy train station bike I got generic Dia-Compe hoods and they keep slipping forward, away from the bars. I'm guessing the ridges on the Sprint levers and hoods would help prevent this.
No joy searching for BikeLane hoods, though I haven't tried Ridgeway Cycles, just been looking online. Any suggestions?
Edit: added profile shot to show shape better, sorry for phonecam pics.
The Bikelane 1546 hoods are the ones at the bottom of this page http://www.bicyclepartswholesale.com.au ... evers.html
Any bike shop with a BPW account will be able to get them for you
Ours is not to reason why...merely to point and giggle
