Campagnolo Hi-Lo hub

Rummaging through my boxes i came across a pair of Campagnolo hubs that i had forgotten about.
I was told (not sure how true this is) was that the Germans used these in the race meets in the 80's.
I was wandering does anyone know if there are any benefits to this design.
Thinking about using these on a recent purchase.

The one i have seems to be a road version,
I only have the rear like this, the front seems to be a normal record small flange.

A special rear hub with a high flange on the freewheel side and a low flange on the left-hand side was introduced in 1982 – the difference in flange sizes was supposed to help even out the spoke tensions between the freewheel and non-freewheel sides of the wheel.

I've often come across the German Olympic team explanation for the production of these hubs too. I understand that they are quite rare and sort after. I wonder what it would fetch on ebay - but I would hang onto it myself. Thanks for posting the great photo.
