Super Stevens ladies bike

Postby Jaycomal » Mon Jul 15, 2013 5:38 pm

Saw this one today after it had been dragged out of an overgrown garden. Super Stevens ladies bike with some lovely paint detail and painted rear wheel. Lots of rust but probably not beyond salvaging. Anyone know if this make is related to the Stevens cycles of today? A check of the Stevens German website suggests that the company has only been around since 1990, and obviously this bike pre-dates that time. Didn't have time to look too hard, but no other identifying marks were obvious.

nothing to do with anything made overseas, thats a standard 50's Australian made Ladies bike that looks to have been 'renovated" at some time in the past (non original paint), might not be a "Super Stevens" made one either. :D

The only other Super Stevens I've ever seen belongs to me. The Super Stevens shop was at 729 Sydney Road, Brunswick, Victoria. Super Stevens referred to themselves as the "King of the Lightweights" and specialised in racing bikes in the early 1950s. They sponsored a "Super Stevens" road race. No connection to the German firm but I don't know much more than that.

An obsessive thread on my Super Stevens is here.
