The swap meet vintage bicycle stalls officially stand at 20 at the moment. I got a call this evening from a BMX enthusiast claiming he intends to get another 12 more BMX parts sellers to turn up. So potentially, we may have 32 stalls in all!
Hope the weather holds out. Even have a penny farthing pursuit style race around the velodrome that afternoon.
Lots of food and coffee stalls for everyone.

What time does the racing start? I'm keen to see the penny farthing race, but can't spend all day at Tempe.

I agree, would be great even if there was a draft of a program, as I'm only doing the day trip up and haven't got all day.bigfriendlyvegan wrote:Marc,

I believe the Penny Pursuit will be on somewhere between 1pm and 2pm. Neither Gokulan nor Ray have raced a penny on a velodrome before, so it could be a bit alarming. Had over 50 bicycles in the Concours event and an amazing array of 23 vintage bike stalls, incredible. The velodrome infield was busy indeed.
Part of the 50 bikes in the Concours display
Judges JohnJ and Roger Rabbit (sound familiar?) at work
Stretch on his Penny
Ray during the Penny Pursuit race, which he won! Well done Gokulan.
Some of the 23 bicycles stalls
Some of the prizes for the Concours event and track races
The new/old Dulwich Hill BC Penny Pursuit 'Perpetual' Trophy. This is an old trophy from 1888 and was used as a doorstop for many years by a late, long time DHBC member. This years race was won by Ray. He will look after this trophy until March 2015.
Lots more photos and a video to follow.
Regards

Will definitely have to bring some bikes up next year for concourse, but mine will just be padding compared to some of the absolute beauties that were there.
Cheers

Interesting to talk to Geoff Scott about frame building and see his latest work. So much more goes into the design and building of the frames than you imagine and I hope we keep the skills and art of it all going to the next generation.

We held a post-Sydney Classic Bicycle Show bike ride. A hardy and hearty bunch set off from Canterbury Velodrome on a vintage (steel) steeds. We rode to Bicentennial Park at Homebush for coffee and then returned to Tempe and the Concordia Club for a well earned meal and cleansing ale.
Many BNA regulars; Peter B (aka Human Being), QuangV (aka Quang Vuong), Philip (aka Cyldesdale Scot), Andy W (aka Saro), Marc R (aka Marc2131) and JohnJ (aka JohnJ).

This bike is mine! (the funny bike behind was mine too - and actually won best track!)minhyy wrote:thanks to the organisers and vendors for planning the show, lots of goodies on offer and (mostly) steel

Highlight of the show for me was having Geoff Scott confirm that my funny bike was actually one of his. Ben/Spirito had a chat to him and he wandered over to have a look, and yep, confirmed it. He said it was of the era somewhere between the 84 Olympics and the 88 Olympics when his 'Gefsco's' were ridden in the Pursuit / ITT events.
Consequently, it took out Best Track Surprisingly. Super stoked.
Picture is awesome BTW, am going to save it for myself, cheers!

I've got the story of the white and orange trike, but I need to clean up the image though. Very trick little ride.

Great work Quang, some nice pics. I was half way up the freeway when i remembered that i'd forgotten the camera.QuangVuong wrote:I had a good day out yesterday. And enjoyed this morning's ride.
