This Bright Chrome spray paint. Wasnt really expecting anything better than a matallic silver, but it turned out to be quite a nice foggy chrome. Wheels are next up for painting as well.

I was using some 'chrome' paint just this morning. It definitely isn't the same as chrome but if you get the surface PERFECT it looks pretty damn good.

Polished up the levers. Bit hard to see though. Bar tape works well, and prob will just stick with that. Its comfier than the plastic grips from before.

But theres a slight issue. The housing gets caught in the front rack when turning left which makes it brake. Theres no other place to route the housing. Oh well, the brake isnt that strong so it wouldnt cause an accident.

Nice result - that looks great! The bar tape looks like a good option. Did you take it for a test ride?

Yeah, went up and down the street to test safety and brakes. Rear brealy does anything, and front works well enough.

As for the front housing, its super long already. Its just that the rack gets in the way. Dont think theres anyway to get around that other than removing the rack.

I haven't seen a frame mounted front rack before - my BSA 20 has a front rack but its mounted to the fork. Does the cable snag when you're riding or just when you're testing it out while standing still?

Removing the rack is probably the easiest option unless routing the cable like a centre pull down the middle gives you a bit more slack. Converting to a centre pull brake is another possibility?

Well this was a success. Mum didn't didn't see it over the week, so it remained a secret up til today. She's happy with it, and I found out that she had a similar bike ages ago

Anyway, looks like that auto raking issue isn't too bad. I loosened the barrel adjuster anchor bolt, and that allowed the housing to flex a bit without it causin the brakes to pull in. And will be buying those leather pads soon. Or could buy some 22" alloy rims(some on eBay for only $19 per rim) and save on the price of pads.

alloys sound like a good option - do you know if the twenty two had the same tyre size issue as the twenty? Different markets got different wheel sizes which meant different reach for the brakes...

The tyres are 22x1.75, so Id say thats the standard size.

sounds about right if the 231.5mm wide in the subtitle refers to the radius of the rim - might be worth doublechecking the right tyre size with the seller.

The only reason I mention it is because the twenty two (like the twenty) came in two wheel sizes so the tyres were either 22 x 1.75" or 22 x 1-3/8". The ETRTO for these tyres are 47-457 and 37-501 which is about a 1" difference in diameter at the rim, so brake reach can be an issue if switching

If the bike is riding on 22 x 1.75" at the moment and that's what the alloy rims take then you shouldn't have a problem.

Mum says new pads will do. I guess she wont be riding at anything over 20km/h, so itll be alright.

And amazing condition Twenty. If this was up a week earlier, I wouldve grabbed it.

It wasn't quite as nice in the flesh as in the photos.. but it was complete and straight and the guy was negotiable so it's in my garage now while I work out what to do with it..
