Re pump pegs: KT would have stipulated it that way for his personal machine, I suppose, being a fully sponsored rider for SE.

Re road vs track: there wasn't a great deal of difference between the 2 in the 1930s, truth be told. A 'track' race was usually a cinder or grass track around the outside of an oval, sometimes with mild banking, not usually a velodrome. Gears were lower, actual changing gears were still in their relative infancy, and the bikes had to deal with a great variation in racing conditions. Often the same bike would be used for actual road races, such as Adelaide to Burra (still going in the late 1950s early 1960s). Payneham Oval (on Ashbrook Avenue, Payneham) was a common venue for 'track' races, incidentally. The oval is still there...

thanks! what do you think the numbers on the steerer head might tell me?also does anyone think orange and black would be its original colours? Liza
