Sources for vintage parts?

Postby vx255 » Wed Jul 30, 2008 7:32 pm

I'm wondering if anyone is willing to divulge their sources of vintage (or retro/repro) parts.

in particular I'm trying to find hubs, stem and brakes for circa 1960ish
But happy to glean any secrets anyone wishes to share.

il padrone has given me a few URLs to drool over, but more is better :)

cheers, Eddie

Hi,
Geez you dont ask for much do you! that sort of info is generally kept under lock and key ! :D me, I have no idea , I just search Ebay........ would probably help if you could narrow what you want to a maker or price range , Campagnolo is easy to find and as expensive as hell for example

No point being backwards at being forward
I've found a few eBay sellers that deal with vintage bike gear (after scouring the retro thread in its entirety, you guys slip once and awhile and mention them).

About what I was chasing, good question, Its hard to put a figure on things when I don't know what they are truly worth, nor for that matter what I'm actually looking for.
The bike in question has wheels that are most likely not original, I wouldn't even have half an idea of what would have been on it when built, so my intent is to (quote from "The Castle") is to Mabo it, by which, maintain the vibe, without breaking the bank too much.

I guess after The Castle reference, I'll just have to look in the Trading Post
