Anyone have any idea what this is? The obvious distinguishing feature is the brazed on "F" insignia on the head tube. Frejus? Flying Scot?

I'm asking on behalf of a friend and I only have this snap taken a few weeks ago, but I can ask for more details. Track dropouts from memory.

Can't help except in the negative sense, definitely not Flying Scot.

You know about the Flash, and as the others have two words, and their names invoke stylised insignias, how about a Fleet?

Flash's insignia was the lightning bolt on the headtube and fork blades, so it isn't that. I'm pretty sure it isn't a Flying Arrow. I don't know about the others but the owner ran it past the members of the Historical Cycle Club a few months ago to no avail, and there certainly some members who would remember if they'd seen anything like it before.

Curious as to whether you established the make in your post. I have just joined the network forum. My great grandfather Forest Finlay built bicyles and motor cycles successfully in Sydne between 1903 and 1908. Nothing to do with the later Finlay Bros and the Barb in melbourne. His bikes were successful against Major Yaylor and Lawson in Australia 1903/04 riden by Carter, Richard "Dick" Arnst won the Sydney 1000 on one and Walcott won the Goulburn Sydney likewise.Jackie Clarke took them to the US as did Iver Lawson. Clarke broke the long standing 1/4 mile record on one in Utah.I have head stock pic of the lightweigt (Famous Finlay F F). He produced stock bikes, standard road racers and specials and the FF.he had his bike weight for racing down to 18 lbs for FF to 21lbs for Specials. The FF would not have had metal badges to save weight. I do not know what the bikes headstocks were except FF. So is there any chance the bike was made 1903-1908? this I assume is easy to tell by materials and manufacture techniques. if so any other marking or numbers.Hope at least this is interesting and hopefully a lead.

No maker established as yet. The owner is still asking. Headtube lugs would make it post WW2 I would think, so no chance of it being turn of the century I'm afraid
