Seat clusters

Postby Lots of steel bikes » Sun Oct 23, 2016 8:30 pm

For reference purposes I thought it an idea to post photos of seat clusters. Possibly the most elegant part of a bike that gives a frame builder chance to show individuality. I have a couple of unidentified frames as I'm sure many others do.
The more photos we get the more helpful it might be when trying to identify a frame.
So here are some of my less common frames.

You've got me excited rangersac. I'll start a new thread and post some other photos to see if there other similarities to your Claud Butler.

But not the 531 decal surely, that style is very late 80's at best, more likely 90's from memory.

Yep, the Reynolds decal is newer than the one I have, and mine is down the bottom of the seat tube rather than the top, but the style and colour of the tubes are a perfect match.

I was confused as to the age of your flying gate, thinking it was 50s while the internal cable routing suggested much later. Then took the hint from your later post about decals & realised it was reynolds 653 which cleared that up.
It doesn't get easier, you just get slower

Not the most elegant, but a very nice bike though - thin walled tubing, french end dropouts, and came with quality BSA parts and wooden rims.

That's interesting. How does it clamp the seat post?
