Vintage, yesteryear and retro biking

Hi,
Does anyone know where I can get my hands on some 27" track singles? (don't have to be silk!)
I am considering going back to track racing & would really like to use my good old 27" wheels. The bike shops either laugh at me or just try to sell me a new pair of wheels.

Were you particular about what brand or you just looking for 27inch in general?

Where are you in Sydney. The person to ask that question is Alan, who has a shop on New Canterbury rd, not far from the intersection of Canterbury, New Canterbury and Old Canterbury rds. He often has a penny farthing outside his shop.

I have followed this one up. There is no such thing as 27" singles. Singles have always been 700c. They use to be called 27" singles when clinchers were 27", but they were always 700c.

Thanks for the responses guys.
Since posting I have heard that 700c should fit. Mikesbtyes has confirmed that for me. I have an old (approx 18 yrs) but unused 'Soyo 45' single - still in the bag. I'm considering using it as it still holds pressure. Does anyone have an idea of the shelf life of inner tubes etc?
Cludence >> looking for 'cheap' in particular. The cheapest I have found are road training singles (AT) $40. A bit heavy for the velodrome but the next step up seems to be $80 each.

Where do you live? Which Velodrome are you intending to frequent?

Live in Liverpool area. Will be riding on the Dunc Gray (AT) Bass Hill- Had my first track ride in a while this week on some borrowed wheels. You can even hire a complete bike at the track (for anyone interested in having a ride on a velodrome - Venue Management 02 9738 9900)

The Bankstown Sports Cycling Club has racing on Wed nights through the track season (Summer). (Had a run on Wed night) The track is open for training on Mon night from 6pm for Juniors & Seniors are on from 7 - 9pm. Cost for Seniors training & racing entry is $10 but you need to be a member of a club (annual fee around $170+)
I think the Fri night racing is in the off season- Winter.
The track is open for casual riders during the day Mon - Thu. Anyone can hire a bike to have a ride for about $25. It's a beautiful track!
Too much info? Apologies for the passion!

Nope, it's the sort of thing someone will be interested in. Of course, it doesn't interest me at all ... commuting to Squidly from 'Delaide to go track riding is nuts even by my standards
And NEVER apologise for the passion - if they can put up with me, they can put up with you
