Identification assistance

Postby Pricie » Wed Aug 23, 2017 5:09 pm

Greetings all,

I am new to the forum and am in need of a little help. I have picked up a bike and would like to know if any one can help me identify the make/model?

It has 4074 stamped on the right dropout.

I would appreciate any help.

Many thanks.

I think that might be a Huffy Dragster3. The coaster hubs were just Huffy Dragsters, the 3sp hub bikes were Huffy Dragster 3s. Most kids back then had the Malvern Star Dragstar, I had the Repco equivalent and there were a few Raleigh Choppers rattling around, but not many of these. I've only ever seen one, and the shifter is what clued me in, but I'm not an expert on these things, just going on memory.

Thanks for the response, I will be on the hunt for more info around the web. Greatly appreciated.

After some digging around, I am fairly confident that it is a Hanimex. From the few images I have been able to find, it looks like it matches.

I am unable to find any info about the company. Is there any one here that can shed some light?

I remember flipping a lovely metallic green Hanimex 'semi-racer' in the late 70s with SunTour and centre-pulls, 27 inch steels, half-guards. Nice bike, nice frame but god it was heavy. Similar to a Hallmark of the same era.
