Melbourne track bike frame (Burrell) ID help

Postby polleren » Sat Oct 21, 2017 5:58 pm

I recently bought a bike frame from a guy who was a professional cyclist in the 70s and 80s. He was sponsored by Super Elliotts in Adelaide. The bike itself is a track bike which was made for him in the early 80s by an English frame maker called Burrell (possibly Geoff or Jeff). The guy I bought it from thinks the frame was made in Heidelberg. Has anyone heard of this guy or know anything about him? Any info would be appreciated. The bike itself is a beauty in terms of quality. I'm just not sure how to upload photos.

Keen to see some pics, this might help: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=23303

Pro tip: don't use Photobucket. Postimage, Cyclebucket or Imgur should do the job.

Those track ends don't look 80's to me, the threaded adjusters are more of a modern inclusion aren't they?

The bottom bracket shell is just a generic job like this one: http://www.torchandfile.com/OS-BOTTOM-B ... _1198.html
Seeing as the cable guides are intact, it doesn't appear to be the product of an experienced frame builder.

Looks like a decent frame, though.

Thanks for the reply and the link. I see what you mean. I'm not sure if the bike had some adjustments made to it. I know the guy who rode it said it was built in the 80s; that's when he stopped riding.
