I was given a couple of bikes. 26” wheels. Are these called Roadsters?
One had an ‘E’ on the head tube so I’m assuming it’s an Elliot. Has a non original fork. The other is a Classic. Both frames look the same though the Classic doesn’t have the ‘E’.

I wouldn't call them roadsters they died out in the late '60's here, kids bikes of some sort, its the sort of bike I'd leave wherever it was lying unless you have a use? but, what do the rear dropouts look like on the "E" frame?

The dropouts are stamped Magistroni. I’ve heard of Magistroni cranks but can’t find a reference to Magistroni dropouts.Torana68 wrote:I wouldn't call them roadsters they died out in the late '60's here, kids bikes of some sort, its the sort of bike I'd leave wherever it was lying unless you have a use? but, what do the rear dropouts look like on the "E" frame?

Its not a half bad frame , Id pick it up with those ends, does a 27" rim fit in there?

Didn’t have a 27 to try but a 700 is fine with clearance left. Pretty sure a 27 will fit.Torana68 wrote:Its not a half bad frame , Id pick it up with those ends, does a 27" rim fit in there?

Well, I would say the frame is probably worth the effort, if it has Magistroni dropouts it would have been a mid-range frame at least. Looks like it has been built up with a load of dodgy parts (including the forks) for a kid or a pub bike but the frame is a keeper I would say, toss the rest.Lots of steel bikes wrote:The dropouts are stamped Magistroni
