Silver modern bits

Postby familyguy » Thu Apr 12, 2018 12:19 pm

I'm finishing up a single speed/commute/whatever build, and would ideally like to appease my OCD nature by matching the silver hubs, rims, headset and seat post collar with a silver stem, bars and seat post.

What are the options in silver for a 1 1/8" threadless setup? Nitto, Richey Classic, VO and Soma come to mind. I know Pro made a silver bar and stem but they don't seem available any longer.

Are there any others?

Compass Cycles. (bling!)

Have a look around Yellow Jersey (http://yellowjersey.org/) too. Never know what you might find.

Find a stem you like, get it de-annodised by someone like artarmon electroplaters & polish.

Don't know if quang would be interested, but he certainly has the skills to get a beautiful polish.

Considering I am doing a strip and polish to a 5600/5700 groupset, then adding two more components into that job is easy enough. It's an idea that I did kick around, but thought I'd ask the question. There is Kalloy/Uno as well, their finishes seem to have picked up. It's not a high end bike by any means.

Velo Orange if you're flush with currency

or a Nitto

but both are relatively expensive for just a stem.
There's an Origin8 on eBay for reasonable $s :

but is straight, and 110mm.

Go Nitto. Costs a bit but can be found for reasonable prices with a bit of scrounging. Well worth the money IMO. Nitto is quality, everything is forged aluminium or brazed/welded cr-mo. The stuff will not break and will last a life time.

+1.
Have always been happy with my Nitto stuff although tbh has only ever been quill and threadless stems...oh and one seat post.
