Not all Cecil Walkers have serial numbers. Cecil's have been built by various people over the years and as far as I know there is no consistent numbering system.

cecil walker serial numbers.

I don't know if this helps but I have a Cecil Walker road racing bike the frame of which I know was ordered and delivered in 1988. The serial number is 88XXX, so at that time I suggest the first two digits were the year of manufacture and the next three just the number built so far that year.

Cheers.

I agree with the above

Mine is stamped 78046 and I am led to believe it was built in 78 so I suggest it was the 46 frame built that year.

I would like to know who was the frame builder at that time. Anybody know??

But.... but.... mine is stamped 82XXX, yet I'm sure it was custom-made in mid-81 :?

May have been ordered in 81 and eventually made/delivered in 82. Sometimes back then order time to delivery time was lengthy, and 6 months would be quite a possibility.
