There’s no bike too good to ride to work.

We’ll need to see some pictures and a detailed description for a more accurate appraisal.

Easiest way I've found is to upload a collection of pictures to your Imgur account, and then paste the BB Code link in a new post in this thread.

Shimano AX hidden bolt. Probably the nicest component on the whole bike. That and the Cinelli bars.
This is a typical 1990s frame ...it may or may not be 653 - you do realise that the word "renovated" means that the tubing sticker is a non-original later addition? Nevertheless it probably is Reynolds ...or at 27.0 it may be Columbus. But its a high end frame. Not sure the stickers Hadley are original either. Anyway ...
The components are mixture of all sorts of odd stuff ... low-mid level. I would throw the whole lot away and put on a matching set of Shimano 600EX, or 600 TriColour shift levers, brakes, derailleurs and cranks. The Mavic wheels are period correct. 6 speed?
Its a decent frame. Build it up and ride it.

Agree it looks like a respray - didn’t remove the bottom headset cup!

Are they Campy Chorus cranks? Surely they wouldn’t be the same BCD as Biopace rings.

Throw away those chainrings. <ducks>

Anything on the underside of the BB shell?

Ah, Shimano 105. It looked a bit like a 1st gen Campagnolo Chorus on my phone.

Basically that photo with the serial number - nothing jumps out at me. Nice frame though.

Painting it properly can be an expensive process. If I were you - ride it, see how much you like it, then if it's a keeper look into getting it painted. If you are worried about the rust spots a bit of fish oil should keep them from developing.

Well it looks like the original paint is long gone, so I wouldn't worry about de-valuing it. If there's a few rust spots a new coat of paint will only increase the value (a bit...it's not going to fund your retirement or anything.)

I reckon you should do a bike version of that Torana. Guess you could hang the fluffy dice off your saddle.

I'm actually loving that fork - looks a bit Columbus Air. Are there any stamps on the fork tips or dropouts? Looking for something like this:

Columbus drop outs with Reynolds tubing.
Could it possibly be a Hillman? I’m sure there were others that combined them, but Hillman comes to mind.

Well, they're quality fork tips! Anything on the (rear) dropouts?

Although we haven't confirmed it is actually Reynolds tubing yet.
