WTS or swap - BRISBANE - BROOKS Flyer

Postby winona_rider » Wed Mar 25, 2009 8:44 pm

It's a black Brooks Flyer. $70 (+delivery) or swap for brooks B17. It cost me at least twice that, plus delivery.

It's done about 50 -100ks but I just don't think it's right for me. I bounce too much with the springs. I ride too hard.

Basically it looks like this:

except + 50-100ks.
The leather is still ultra hard and thus is still able to be broken in to someone's shape.
I will throw in a genuine brooks seat cover.

AWSM!

Fair is fair - I already have one Brooks on the way. It would seem rather selfish to have two of them.

We need to go out there, preach and convert people to the truth that is a leather saddle under a happy bum!

So WR, (if I may ask) what weight are you? I suspect you're 85+ Kg as I'm 75 Kg but don't seem to get the bounce no matter how hard I ride (or at least I don't notice it). Just trying to confirm a theory.

i'm 71 kilos! Maybe even lighter by the end of a big ride!
and i get the "bounce"!
maybe i sit back in the saddle when i am pushing hard? i am not sure... i do tend to shift around in the saddle and I think I prefer bikes a size too small for me (i am 6 feet tall and all my bikes are 56 or 57cms). just my thing.

Can i just say this about brooks and leather saddles:
about a year ago i bought a pair of leather sneakers and they were hopeless for about 3 months - but then they became THE best shoes I've ever owned.
They are now falling apart cause the straps on my pedals dig into the sides - especially the shoe that has to "unclip" at stops.

but i have bought a new pair of leather sneakers and i am trying to break them in - tough.
so leather is your friend - but i am just not convinced by the springs.

Thanks WR. Another theory for the bin then. :)

I use leather shoes as well. For me, they not only fit well, but last longer than the poly composite tennis type sport shoes or cross trainers I used to buy. My feet stay dryer too.

I'm likely going to try a B17 Imperial next for the road bike (just because I like to try different things) and move the Flyer to the MTB.

I was originally going to use a flyer on my MTB, but the B67 is a wonderful thing. It looks a bit ugly once it's gotten a bit wet though. Need to order Proofide.
