I’m looking for a steel frame that meets several of the following criteria. Some are obviously more important than others, but this is my ideal frame. I want to build a practical bike to do everything with, i.e. roads, forestry/fire trails, carrying stuff around but nothing like serious touring.
• 58cm (ish) centre-to-top seat tube
• Some decent provision for a rear derailleur – integrated or replaceable hanger
• Enough room for mudguards and >28mm tires
• Reasonable quality steel tubing. I’ll consider another material if it meets the other requirements.
• 130mm rear dropout spacing (126mm is fine)
• 27.2mm seat post bore (but seatposts are relatively cheap)
• Braze-ons for racks and cantilever brakes are desirable but not essential.
• Pretty cheap. I’m a uni student but I’ll obviously pay what a nice enough frame is worth.
Let me know if you have something likely.
Leon.
