SOLD - Seaforth NSW - 1976 Ron Kitching 1st Gen Super Record

Postby rogerrabbit » Sat Jun 06, 2009 1:45 pm

I am selling my Ron Kitching fitted with Super Record from the mid 70's. This would be a typical English lightweight timetrial type setup with very light wheels and a close-range freewheel.

Image
Ron Kitching was a major supplier of racing bikes and parts in the UK during the 60's and 70's (at least). This is a lovely mid 70's English bike with a top of the line Campagnolo Super Record fitout.

Size, 57cm ctc seat tube
Colour, frog green, this is a respray by Star Enamellers to the original colour. Decals are NOS originals.
The frame is made of SuperVitus 971
It is fitted with:
Rear Derailleur: Campag 1st Gen Super Record 1976
Front Derailleur: Campag Super Record - Pre 1978 (same as Record) with no lip
Shifters: Campag Super Record - Pre 1978 with chrome cable stops
Brakes: Campag Super Record - Pre 1978 with flat QR levers and chrome brake guides. Hoods are quality replicas with Campagnolo World Logo
Seatpost: Campag Record 27.2
Seat: Brooks B17 (New)
Bars and Stem, Cinelli pre 1978 with early logos
Headset - Original from frame, unknown brand
Wheels - Campag Super Record 28h with Fiamme Ergal rims. The rear hub and rims and freewheel were NOS and have done about 50km. Pre 1978 Flat QR skewers. Clement Tyres (as new)
Pedals: Campag Super Leggeri Pista (track) with XL Christophe clips and new straps. The pedals work fine and spin smoothly but are well used and the pedal caps are in relatively poor condition.
Crankset, Campag Super Record. Sugino or Dura Ace BB, I cant recall. 52/42
Freewheel, Maillard 14-18(I think).

This bike is in excellent mechanical and cosmetic condition. There is very little rust on the components, with the brake pad holders and toeclips having some rust.

I will be putting this bike on ebay tomorrow afternoon, but thought I would advertise it here first in case one of the forum members is interested.

Cheers
Roger
