WTB - 140 mm X 36T (6 spd chain) square taper crankset

Postby twowheels » Mon Jun 15, 2009 6:13 pm

I'm trying to locate a 140 mm X 36T (6 spd chain) square taper crankset .

It is to replace an alloy 140 mm X 36T (6 spd chain) square taper crankset off a 2007 or 2008 Giant MTX 150 (20 " mountain bike). The original is a Prowheel brand, current 2009 model is Topwheel brand.

The single chainring is fixed to the right crankring. The cranks are 140 mm ctrs. I really only need to replace the right crankarm/chainring if a secondhand Prowheel is available. Otherwise compatible left & right pair of another brand of similar quality.

If anyone has something of this description, or know of a supplier/retailer either in Perth or available for online sales where I can get these I would appreciate it.

thx.

I can do new and used 152mm triples.
I can get ex east new 152mm singles with 40t.

Have you tried a good Giant Dealer for a replacement 140?
Cheers,
George.

I want a quite specific replacement size wise, rider is only a small 6 years old so need cranks as small as possible. Would prefer to also keep same gearing to make it easier for pedalling at first and keep original chain length.

Closest I've found is http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/product-Unbr ... s-4951.htm , I asked and they said not compatible with 6 speed cluster.

If you can recommend a "good" Giant dealer in Perth to ask for a replacement, please let me know. The Giant dealer I've asked so far hasn't been able to locate one so I'm also trying myself.

PM sent...

What is wrong with the standard MTX 150 crank?
Cheers,
George.

Standard MTX 150 crank would be good as a replacement if I could source one. Only reason I have cast the net further is because I was having trouble finding one, or any of this size on the net. (it is a disposable world we live in!)

I'm on a good lead at the moment though (Mercer Cycles) and I've also emailed Giant myself.

Thx for your offer.
