WTB - Sydney - 7 speed downtube shifters

Postby ghettro » Wed Aug 05, 2009 5:00 pm

I'm after some shimano downtube shifters in 7 speed index. Anyone got a pair?
Thanks

No, but good luck. Seven speed bar ends are VERY hard to come by. They do exist - I know this because I have a set on a bike.:) However, you can use the more common and still-produced 8 speed version, as the spacing is close enough to 7 speed that it will work well enough.

Dunno 'bout relevance but it may help. I've used 8s rapidfire shifters on a 7s block before.
IIRC, 7 and 8s used the same spacing. The 8s and up gear has a wider freehub.

It may work but there is a difference in Shimano:

Thanks

Forgive my ignorance.

I have some shifters like those in the link below (ie attach to the side of the frame). They are Shimano LX Sport and from top to bottom 'click' 6 times. I think this would be 7 gears, but no idea if they're attaching in the right spot. Sound like what you need or have I taken the wrong tram?
