Hi all,

Firstly, apologies if there is anything hard to understand. I'm still learning. :-)

I am doing a rebuild at the moment for my wife to ride the ATB.. Just got a call back from the mechanic and my rear hub is cracked. Such short notice! It was an early DA - it *could* be a 7 speed, but I am not 100% as it is in the shop. Looks almost identical to the high-flange shown here: http://www.sheldonbrown.com/shimano1973/pages/da7.html (but mine is a lot 'greyer', perhaps from being left outside?)

It was on a bike which all other parts were shimano 600's.

I really, really need help to find either a rear hub, or a rear wheel in the next couple of days. I'm in Melbourne - any help would be very much appreciated.

How many spoke holes? And was the hub for cassette or freewheel cogs? What is the rear spacing?

Thanks for the reply. It is an old freewheel - High flange, 36 hole as you can see in this image: http://www.cyclebucket.com/images/img028rxr.jpg (this is the front, though - rear is in the shop). I *think* rear spacing is 130, but could be 126.

Sorry, I missed the high flange part. I don't have any of that style in old Shimano, sorry.
Can you borrow a wheelset for the event till you get something that suits?

I have a wheelset that's not being used.
It's a STARS Brand - so nothing special, but they're OK.
I've only just taken them off.
They did the ATB last year.
However I don't have a Shimano cassette to go with it.

I have a NOS 36h high flange silver rear hub of the Dura Ace 1st gen (as per your pic). I actually have a pair but willing to split. No QR, and the rear axle is not NOS (cones are) The freewheel thread is French, but I have a 6 speed freewheel to go with it.

These hubs were 120mm new, but were often respaced for 6/7 speed, which could be achieved with the same axle.
