Thank you for the timely reminder of the ignore function - I will take the opportunity to commend it to anyone who may be finding that any particular member's contributions to the forum are detracting from their enjoyment of it There are four phases of bicycle commuting; first there's fear, then rage, then self-righteousness and finally, fun.

Since when is mainroads and authoritative citation. One could easily argue that since some real vintage cars took part, they generalised so as not to make it to verbose in the report. There are far more supporting docs and links that show Vintage is 1919 to 1930 (or thereabouts), and nothing to do with 25 years +. Unless you can come up with some citations that are in fact reputable proof that Vintage is considered to be 25+ years old.

You're welcome, just wish the self-loathers would use it, and not interrupt my post with their vile. They should get on their bike. Cheers, BrentonO Lone Rider- I rode on the long, dark road... before I danced under the lights.
Re: WTS:Perth: Campag Seatpost 27.2mm short-rareBrentonO,
You don't have a 26.4mm post floating around in your bag of tricks by any chance do you? Dan I ride 25s on the basis that they divide more easily into 100 than 23s.

One last time, to see if you can pick it up... "Different countries and states have their own laws and rules regarding vintage cars." in WA = Licencing WA + Main Roads WA + VAA WA = Authoritative Citation. Sorry. Now give me an Authoritative Citation regarding the definition of Vintage Bicycle Parts as I asked. Can you? If you keep OT, will just ignore you, as suggested. Cheers, BrentonO Lone Rider- I rode on the long, dark road... before I danced under the lights.
Re: WTS:Perth: Campag Seatpost 27.2mm short-rareMacquarie Dictionary:
12. denoting or pertaining to a motor vehicle built between 1918 and 1930, or a racing car more than ten years old. If we were to supplant 'motor vehicle' with 'bicycle' (purely for the purposes of this forum) and establish whether the seat post in question came from a racing bike, we could determine the correct nomenclature, no? Might be a bit rusty on citations but from what I remember, dictionaries are generally well accepted. Which is not to say they're infallible... Dan I ride 25s on the basis that they divide more easily into 100 than 23s.
Re: WTS:Perth: Campag Seatpost 27.2mm short-rareDiggerdantheman,
So am I to understand what you are saying, is that a Racing Bicycle more than 10 years old is Vintage. Does that go for parts, also? Think we are making some progress, here. Maybe we can get a final ruling from the Sites, Organgrinder. Thanks, BrentonO Lone Rider- I rode on the long, dark road... before I danced under the lights.
Re: WTS:Perth: Campag Seatpost 27.2mm short-rareI'm not saying anything other than that motor vehicles built in the period 1918 to 1930 inclusive, or racing cars older than 10 years are considered vintage by the editors of The Macquarie Concise Dictionary, 2nd Edition. Cannot comment on bicycles of the racing variety (on indeed any variety), nor on parts from, for or used to assemble the aforementioned.
Off topic though, do you have a 26.4mm post in your shed of tricks? If you could have a look for me that would be great. I ride 25s on the basis that they divide more easily into 100 than 23s.
