Re: WTS: Shogun 80's Fixie [BRIS]Would you sell the wheelset seperately?
Cheers, Nathan
Re: WTS: Shogun 80's Fixie [BRIS]Mate,
either you have a Hillman there or I have a Shogun ![]() ![]() Haven't seen another one like it in Brisbane and that photo of what you think is an 'S' is exactly the same as the 'H' on my Hillman. Wonder which it is now? Cheers, Adam

Re: WTS: Shogun 80's Fixie [BRIS]Oh, I have a Shogun. Same seat stay. I wonder why someone would go to the trouble of painting up a bike and applying different decals? Lucky I don't care about brands. Still, don't know whether I am disappointed or think it's cool to have an old Katana. how did you know rkelsen?
Re: WTS: Shogun 80's Fixie [BRIS]
People do crazy things. It'd be a bit of a surprise to see a Hillman so far from home. Hillman bikes are normally custom made, so they are pretty rare in the 2nd hand market. I recently purchased a slightly newer Katana (1991), and was doing some research into the model when I saw that frame with the cantilever seat stays (a.k.a. triple triangle). The one for sale here is the second one I've seen, and your "Hillman" makes three! All of the Katanas I've seen have had Tange Infinity tubing - whether they have the cantilever seat stays or not. Mine doesn't have them, but it's still a great ride. From what I've read on here, Infinity is toward the upper end of Tange's range of tubing. It's a keeper for sure. volutamus scandemus

Re: WTS: Fixie Frame and Wheels [BRIS]Wow - thank god I was wondering what on earth my frame was - I picked it up for 100 and now I know what it is (no idea what Birkett is)!

Re: WTS: Fixie Frame and Wheels [BRIS]is this still available? what size is the seat tube? keen to check it out.
Re: WTS: Fixie Frame and Wheels [BRIS]For a time in the eigthies, the "equilateral" frame was the in thing.
I dare say I am looking at 3 different brands on this thread... ![]() This last one makes four. And it ain't no Shogun.
Re: WTS: Fixie Frame and Wheels [BRIS]
The "Hillman" is a Shogun. That said, I'm sure there are more brands that have made bikes with cantilever style seat stays at some point. volutamus scandemus
Re: WTS: Fixie Frame and Wheels [BRIS]You are ALL right - that frame style was made by all of those people, but a Hillman is NOT a Shogun.... Shogun is an American based Taiwanese bicycle company who makes a whole range of bikes, whereas Hillman is a bikeshop and framebuilder in Grantham Street, Brunswick, in Melbourne. They were also making that sort of frame in the late 1980's, and still had one on display when I was last there, last year.... they didn't only do custom, they also had a small range of their own stock frames built up for sale until about 10 years ago.....
