Well as I am heading to the land of very big mountains I am going to sell these and get a pair of compacts for this frame.Anyone interested let me know.

If you are in Sydney I am quite happy to fit them for you as it is a bit weird first time.Going on ebay this weekend.

Are they noticably different from a standard setup when being used in anger ?

They take a week or 2 to get used to.Also feel a bit strange on descents when starting out.I swap between my DuraAce and these twice a week.Takes about 400 meters to get used to the rotors and maybee 10 minutes going back to normal cranks.Mainly because you notice the dead spot much more on normal cranks.
They are probably more of a TT crank than a sprint crank but I have raced and won on the rotors so they do do both.The big differences are you can push much bigger gears.Also this is why they say if you are running 175's now you wont notice the 180 step up as they are never fully opposite in their rotation.Also take a lot of strain off your knees.When you get into a rythm with them you truely fly.They are heavier even thou these are the top end ti models.
I just cant see I will use them in France compared to compacts.Some of the climbs I would ride regularily are a struggle for me even in 39/27.

What sort of $$$ are you looking at?

Are they likely to be compatible with a 105 FD which currently sits with a Shimano Sora FC-3301-A double crankset, 39-52 teeth? (I have no idea what all this means)

I'm possibly looking to upgrade, and the most likely candidate I've found so far is a 105 crankset being sold on Fleabay.
What is it with cycling? 30+ kmh and lycra???!!!

Yes it is a thomson set back seat post in reverse.Only way I could get the set far enough forward.Thats the problem with XL frames with relaxed seat tube angles.

Yeah, I'm getting myself a set of 150mm or 155mm cranks shortly*: 180s are just ridiculous for the 'bents.

Had they been 175 MTB cranks, I'd have snapped them up in a second. Your price is a ripper (hint guys - get these cranks at this price while you can. It's very very good.)
