[Perth] Vintage bikes and parts, nos etc

Postby metalrideroz » Sun Apr 14, 2013 2:48 pm

Due to illness and medical expenses I have some things for sale. I may add more later.
Pickup from 6175. Postage is available on smaller items.

item: 60s road/track bike
price : $500
postage: no
details:
1964?(s.no. on seatube ends in 64) racer
54cm seat tube x 58cm top tube
cyclo dropouts
williams crankset
brooks vinyl saddle
arai gold brake
ukai rims
galv spokes
Velox Engineering Works fixed/freewheel rear hub
lyotard pedals
campagnolo nuovo sport derailleur and single shifter
4 speed everest freewheel(with period "the coventry england" chain)

currenly set up as fixed with rear brake, originally came with the 4 speed campagnolo set up which sort of works. Rides best as single speed anyway. Don't pay too much attention to the measurements, it's medium-ish, 58cm top tube feels short. Pictured saddle height is a compromise for average legged 174cm person. At full leg extension height it's pretty much drops only. Good for the velodrome, not great for the road.

Frame is lightweight thin wall tubing despite the simple lugs.
Only a small amount of surface rust on the toptube.
Some rust on rear rim.
Tiny, tiny "indent" in the seat tube, needs to be in the right light to see it. Can't feel it.
Right rear seatstay has small "wiggle" near top. Non-issue, bike
tracks perfectly straight and is super stable. You can go full power in the drops then throw into upright no hands, bike doesn't move.

comes with the follwing extras
NOS Zues alpha junior derailleur and shifter
raleigh cottered crankset
kkt quill pedals
monitor brake with a lever
new brown cloth bar tape
new cotter pins

Expensive? Sell campag and zues stuff then you have a cheap, quality vintage fixed or singlespeed.

Those Look pedals would use the older delta cleats FYI. I have a pair of those and the red and white version. For early models, they are still insanely good pedals. I can't justify another set...

I am interested to know what the shaped stem to the left of the Sakae is though?

'zact same as me, Jim. As far as dedicated road pedals go - I ownly own/use second hand old Look Delta compatible pedals. Shimano pedals were at one stage for a while using the mech under license (I presume) from Look before they introduced their SPD/SL system.

Delta cleats & covers are all still readily available from Wiggle / The Fleabay etc. I'd recommend these as a good starter road pedal.... once I started on them myself 3 or 4 years ago, I never bothered with newies and I have about 5 or 6 diff pairs :D

Would you happen to have a square taper 175mm crankset? Say 52ish/36ish.

Thanks

No. The 105 cranks are the closest at 172.5mm, 52/42. That chainring combination is not standard you would have to buy a smaller inner chainring. I don't think you can get a 36t in 130bcd, 39t is more common.
Thanks.

Any quill stem left? I am after something 10cm stem length and something more flat (not tilted down so much). I assume they are 25.4mm?
