In short - I bought a new frameset, but the size description was way off, and it's at least an inch smaller than was described to me.
Item: Guerciotti Record Frameset - brand new. Never built.
Price: $478 shipped to mainland eastern states and SA. Please talk to me re: WA/TAS/NT. Obviously, price would be adjusted for local pick up.
Postage Available: yep, see above
Details: See below
Brand new Guerciotti Record lugged steel frameset. Includes frame, fork and headset, as well as a bottom bracket cable guide. 54.5cm top tube, 54cm seat tube ctr to ctr, 130mm headtube. These are the actual measurements - as described in the table below, AND as physically measured by me.
Takes an italian bottom bracket, and braze-on front derailleur. Fork has a 1" threaded steerer, with headset included. Built for 700C wheels, with 130mm rear spacing. Columbus Thron tubing - 27.2 seatpost diameter. 2 sets of bidon cage braze ons, internal rear brake cable routing, and brazed on bosses for downtube shifters/adjusters. Logos are masked/painted, not decals.
Blue in colour - in reality, it's a deeper blue than in this stock image. Actual photos to come in time. I'm actually extremely ^%$#$(AT)^* that it won't fit, as the finish looks really, really nice.
Actual measurements follow this table...
Anyway - just looking to recoup costs - its still in the original packaging....
PM or reply in thread.
Wow, Dan, I am unhappy this won't fit me. A resto on an old frame would cost more than your asking price ...
Yep, but there are adapters which can be used to allow the fitting of ahead-style stems. Most are butt ugly, but there are some which are less so. I have a range of them if you're interested.
Remeasured yesterday - 540mm top tube, 540mm seat tube, 124 head tube. Third time lucky I guess...
Forgot to say, will consider trade for a comparable steel frame in 56 square, or 56tt/57st.
...and mine is currently cursing the idiocy of a retailer providing a blatantly incorrect sizing chart alongside their product...
Someone help make my bank account happy once more - bump!!
Are they helping you out?
If by 'helping me out' you mean 'ignoring my emails', then yes, yes they are...
Initial response was quick. Since then? Nothing - hence my continued efforts to move it locally.
So what size did you actually order Dan?
You do realize that the H2 measurement is from the bottom of the bottom bracket shell to the top of the seat tube not the centre of the shell?Just saying.
Yet another useless Italian bicycle frame measuring technique.
I didn't think that Total cycling had any in stock?
I do like them in blue I just wish it was a 58cm though.
That's not the sizing chart from which I ordered, Scott - it's the one supplied directly by Guerciotti, which better describes what the actual frame measurements are. In fact, it's not even entirely accurate
I run 70mm quills on all my frames rheicel - have a look at my Viner here and Colnago here - I think the proportion of a 70mm works well with 56 and under. Harder to find a 60mm, but shorter reach bars (which I also happen to have here) would fix that.
Have PM'd you rheicel...
