[BNE] 531c Repco Vertex with full Superbe Pro

Postby munga » Tue Aug 06, 2013 7:17 pm

Yeah, selling my Vertex, as my Raleigh is almost finished and I have accumulated a few more bikes than I expected.

52cm seat tube c-c. 53cm c-t.
54cm top tube c-c.

$600.

Full Superbe Pro, with the exception of the 105 hubs, but I will throw in a pair of matching Superbe Pro hubs (I just haven't gotten round to relacing them).
Superbe Pro hidden spring calipers. Superbe Pro bottom bracket. Superbe Pro seatpost. The Lot.

Mavic Open4CD rims in very good condition - front has no wear at all, rear has slightest wear marks.

531c frame with (replacement) 653 fork. Paint chips and surface rust abound - nothing serious, but not great.

Fork was replaced due to brazing letting go on the original. Original fork included in sale.
Forged dropouts, two sets of cage bosses. This is not your average Repco Superlite etc. $1800 retail back in the day, and that was with Sprint 9000.
I've gone the whole hog with Superbe Pro. The only thing missing is the tubulars, and I have a set of 28h Superbe Pro hubs laced to Mavic GEL280's I could negotiate into the sale if desired.
I don't think it got any better than this in 1988 for an Australian-made off-the-rack bike. You're buying a piece of Australian history, and a fine-riding bicycle.

I will also be listing a matching 53cm Vertex TT in the near future. If you would like to talk to me about purchasing both, please get in touch via PM.

3ttt Competizione handlebars with 90mm SR Royal stem (same as Superbe Pro, but less rocking-horse-poopy) in very, very good condition.

Generic saddle - (keeping the Flite, will throw on another random Selle Italia saddle).

No pedals.

More pics to follow, but here's a start.
You can also find more in the Repco thread etc.

Say it is not so. The Repco's got to be better than a Raleigh.

Not much interest in the frame !
The Vertex is a magnificent frame, full 531 double butted i think, light but strong enough.
I bought mine 25 years ago and it has done a lot of work for me since.

Never won any races for me, but did get a third place medallion once :D

if this had an italian name, i think there might be more interest. looks like i'm keeping it (not that i mind), and working some more overtime to get those bling wheels my heart so craves.
